BERNARD BRAGG <\/p>\n

is one of the founders in the 1960\u0019s of the Tony-award winning
\nNational Theater of the Deaf (NTD), a deaf actor, director,
\nplaywright, lecturer and internationally recognized as a leader in
\nthe deaf entertainment industry. <\/p>\n

In 1956 in Paris, he studied with Marcel Marceau, universally
\nacclaimed as the world\u0019s greatest mime. Upon returning to the United
\nStates, Bragg performed traditional\/improvisational mime in San
\nFrancisco\u0019s nightclubs. In 1958, Life magazine commended him as one
\nof the best small nightclub performers in America. He acted in his
\nown weekly TV show called The Quiet Man as well as in CBS\u0019s A Child\u0019s
\nChristmas in Wales and the television movie And Your Name is Jonah. He
\nalso performed throughout Europe, appearing both on television and on
\nstage and served as artist-in-residence in Moscow, New York, and
\nWashington D.C. He wrote and directed To Whom It May Concern in
\nGermany and A Journey into Wonders of Visual World in Hong Kong. <\/p>\n

In 1979 he wrote and directed That Makes Two of Us, a romantic comedy
\nand co-authored Tales from a Clubroom, and in 1989 his book, Lessons
\nin Laughter: The Autobiography of a Deaf Actor, was published. <\/p>\n

In September 2001, Dr. Bragg received a Special Lifetime Achievement
\nAward from the World Federation of the Deaf at their 50th Anniversary
\nConference held in Rome, Italy. This prestigious award honored Dr.
\nBragg for \u001chis years of commitment, dedication, and leadership in the
\nDeaf theatre world, and his encouragement to Deaf actors everywhere.\u001d <\/p>\n

Dr. Bragg has recently completed his twelve-city tour with his
\none-man show called \u001cTheatre in the Sky\u001d helping raise funds for the
\nNAD and WFD. <\/p>\n
