\nResponsibilities:
\nVista Vocational Resources Center Inc. is currently seeking a full-time
\nEmployment Specialist to work specifically with our Deaf and Hard of Hearing
\ncaseload. The major responsibilities of this position includes working directly
\nwith individuals who are disabled and seeking assistance in finding competitive
\nemployment. Our clients are referrals from state and federal programs;
\ncoordinating with Vocational Rehabilitations Counselors to establish and plan
\nservices is a major responsibility of the position. An Employment Specialist
\nshould be a dynamic individual who has both the business acumen to develop
\nbusiness relationships with local employers and the desire to assist individuals
\nwith disabilities in overcoming barriers to employment. You will be a resource
\nof information for job seekers by maintaining updated knowledge of the local job
\nmarket, possess the unique ability to create professional resumes, assist with
\napplications, and provide interview preparation and assistance for your clients.
\nAdditional responsibilities include professional writing ability, computer
\nproficiency, as well as the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing
\nschedules to meet the needs of your client base. A typical client caseload is
\nabout 15 to 30 clients and you will be expected to work in-office, make home and
\nemployer visits, conduct phone or videophone appointments and transport your
\nclients, if necessary, to job interviews, job fairs, etc. As this position is
\nneeded specifically to work with our Deaf and Hard of Hearing caseload, fluent
\nAmerican Sign Language skills are required; evaluation of ASL skill level is a
\nprerequisite to employment.<\/p>\n
\nA Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Rehabilitation, Education or Business related
\narea as well as experience working with individuals with disabilities,
\nspecifically with Deaf and Hard of Hearing clients.
\nTraining and certification are requirements of the position and are provided via
\nonline courses and on-the job training provided by the Employer. A valid Texas
\nDriver license is required for this position as well as current insurance.<\/p>\n
\nThis position provides a competitive salary based on experience plus bonuses,
\nMedical, Dental and Life benefits, paid training, and mileage reimbursement. The
\nhours are typically Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. although flexibility
\nis required to meet the needs of the client.
\nJob Coach<\/strong>
\nWe are also seeking a part-time job coach, who will work directly with clients
\nin their workplace, providing assistance with learning job duties, completing
\nemployment training and facilitating communication with employers. You are also
\nrequired to complete professional job coaching logs documenting your
\ninteractions with clients. This position requires a Texas Driver license,
\ninsurance, a high school diploma and at least one year of experience providing
\ndirect assistance to individuals with disabilities. This position pays $11.00
\nhourly, provides mileage reimbursement, and paid training. The work hours change
\ndepending on the client you will be working with and a flexible schedule is
\nneeded. There is a need for job coaches who are able to communicate in English,
\nSpanish and\/or ASL.
\nVocational Adjustment Trainer \/ Job Readiness Instructor<\/strong>
\nWe are seeking a part-time (32 hours) Instructor\/Trainer to instruct both the
\nVocational Adjustment and Job Readiness courses. The Vocational Adjustment
\ncourse is a unique and comprehensive class that assists job seekers in preparing
\nfor the workplace and the expectations of employers. The instructor will work
\nindividually or in a group setting providing training in subjects such as:
\nappropriate workplace behavior, workplace conflict resolution, employer
\nexpectations, positive work values and ethics, grooming and hygiene
\nexpectations, ADA rights and disclosing disability, requesting accommodations
\nand communications skills. The Job Readiness course is specifically designed for
\nour visually impaired and Blind case load and provides comprehensive preparation
\nfor the job seeking process. Subjects in this course include: interview
\npreparation and practice, resume development, job application training,
\ndiscussing disability in the interview and job retention skills.
\nThese courses run from one to two weeks and the instructor is required to
\ncomplete a thorough report summarizing the client’s progress and needs. The
\ncurriculum and training is provided. Office hours are 8:30 to 2:30, Monday thru
\nFriday. Competitive hourly pay plus bonuses, and mileage reimbursement.
\nThis position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in rehabilitation or
\neducation, experience instructing similar curriculum and working with
\nindividuals with disabilities. Preference will be given to individuals who have
\nmulti-lingual ability including a need for English, Spanish and\/or American Sign
