GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Office of the Governor (OOG) values the
\ntalent and diversity of its highly skilled workforce. OOG employees
\nknow that, first and foremost, Texas matters most. The Community
\nOutreach and Information Coordinator position reports to the
\nExecutive Director in the Governor’s Committee on People with
\nDisabilities (GCPD) division; promotes disability outreach and public
\nawareness; provides support for local communities promoting
\nparticipation of Texans with disabilities; and manages Committee
\naward programs including media and employment award events; and
\ncoordinates production and distribution of poster for disability
\nawareness. <\/p>\n
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: <\/p>\n
Provides in-depth support and assistance to local communities on
\npeople with disabilities including information, technical assistance
\nand regular communication.
\n Networks with local committees and interested communities that have
\ngoals similar to the Governor’s Committee.
\n Implements the Committee’s media and employment awards programs,
\nincluding definition of award criteria, nominations and judging
\nprocesses.
\n Coordinates all aspects of media and employment award presentation
\nevents, including notification of winners, preparation of awards,
\ncollaboration with event co-hosts, script, video production,
\ninteraction with dignitaries, media releases, etc.
\n Researches and writes information for Committee reports, including
\nlocal committee and awards accomplishments.
\n Coordinates the design, production and distribution of annual
\ndisability awareness poster.
\n Provides constituent assistance regarding disability issues
\nespecially regarding assigned areas of responsibility.
\n Analyzes and produces written information and provide staff support
\ndesigned for Committee work, as assigned.
\n Works closely with all staff to provide a coordinated approach to
\nall Committee programs.
\n Performs all other duties as assigned. <\/p>\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <\/p>\n
In order to be considered for this position, the successful applicant
\nmust meet at least the minimum education, knowledge, skills and
\nrequirements. <\/p>\n
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with an
\nundergraduate degree in public relations, journalism, volunteer
\nmanagement, or a related field plus three (3) years experience.
\nExperience and education may be substituted for each other on a
\nyear-for-year basis. <\/p>\n
