OOG employees<br \/>\nknow that, first and foremost, Texas matters most. The Community<br \/>\nOutreach and Information Coordinator position reports to the<br \/>\nExecutive Director in the Governor&#8217;s Committee on People with<br \/>\nDisabilities (GCPD) division; promotes disability outreach and public<br \/>\nawareness; provides support for local communities promoting<br \/>\nparticipation of Texans with disabilities; and manages Committee<br \/>\naward programs including media and employment award events; and<br \/>\ncoordinates production and distribution of poster for disability<br \/>\nawareness. <\/p>\n<p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES: <\/p>\n<p> Provides in-depth support and assistance to local communities on<br \/>\npeople with disabilities including information, technical assistance<br \/>\nand regular communication.<br \/>\n Networks with local committees and interested communities that have<br \/>\ngoals similar to the Governor&#8217;s Committee.<br \/>\n Implements the Committee&#8217;s media and employment awards programs,<br \/>\nincluding definition of award criteria, nominations and judging<br \/>\nprocesses.<br \/>\n Coordinates all aspects of media and employment award presentation<br \/>\nevents, including notification of winners, preparation of awards,<br \/>\ncollaboration with event co-hosts, script, video production,<br \/>\ninteraction with dignitaries, media releases, etc.<br \/>\n Researches and writes information for Committee reports, including<br \/>\nlocal committee and awards accomplishments.<br \/>\n Coordinates the design, production and distribution of annual<br \/>\ndisability awareness poster.<br \/>\n Provides constituent assistance regarding disability issues<br \/>\nespecially regarding assigned areas of responsibility.<br \/>\n Analyzes and produces written information and provide staff support<br \/>\ndesigned for Committee work, as assigned.<br \/>\n Works closely with all staff to provide a coordinated approach to<br \/>\nall Committee programs.<br \/>\n Performs all other duties as assigned. <\/p>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <\/p>\n<p>In order to be considered for this position, the successful applicant<br \/>\nmust meet at least the minimum education, knowledge, skills and<br \/>\nrequirements. <\/p>\n<p>Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with an<br \/>\nundergraduate degree in public relations, journalism, volunteer<br \/>\nmanagement, or a related field plus three (3) years experience.<br \/>\nExperience and education may be substituted for each other on a<br \/>\nyear-for-year basis. <\/p>\n<p>APPLICANT INFORMATION: <\/p>\n<p>To apply, you may request a uniform state application from the Office<br \/>\nof the Governor Human Resources Division, State Insurance Building,<br \/>\n1100 San Jacinto, Room 2.300, Austin, Texas, 78701.
