FCC Videos and Podcasts on the DTV Transition <\/p>\n
Three videos and a podcast about the digital TV transition are now
\navailable from the Federal Communications Commission: <\/p>\n
– DTV is coming. Are you ready? (Podcast, Video) <\/p>\n
– Why are we going through the digital transition? (Video) <\/p>\n
– What you need to know about the DTV Transition in American Sign
\nLanguage (Video) <\/p>\n
You can find them at http:\/\/www.dtv.gov\/video_podcasts.html<\/p>\n
All of the videos are captioned, but we haven’t checked the podcast. <\/p>\n
The video in American Sign Language runs for 16 minutes and 43
\nseconds. <\/p>\n
It includes the following: <\/p>\n
* Background on why there is a transition to digital TV <\/p>\n
* The difference between digital television and HDTV <\/p>\n
* What you need to do (options) <\/p>\n
* The digital TV converter box program <\/p>\n
* What to do if you have a problem with viewing the captions <\/p>\n
* Examples of some captioning problems you might have, and what to do
\nabout them <\/p>\n
To view the videos, you will need Real Player. If it is not already
\ninstalled on your computer, click on the video you want to view and
\nyou will get a link to a free download of Real Player. It took a
\nminute or <\/p>\n
two for NVRC to download Real Player and then four to five more
\nminutes to download the ASL video. <\/p>\n
Toward the end of the ASL video, it says that if you have problems
\ngetting your digital TV\/captioning problems solved, there are two
\ntoll free phone numbers you can call for the FCC Consumer Call
\nCenter: <\/p>\n

\nframe in order to write them down; it took us several tries. <\/p>\n
