It involves a number of elements, including personal identification, language, thoughts, communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values, and institutions that are often specific to ethnic, racial, religious, geographic, or social groups. Cultural competence refers to an ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds, an important skill for individuals working in state government. To assist in your service to individuals who are deaf, this session will delve into American Deaf Culture which centers around language and identity, values, rules, and traditions.<\/p>\n<p>Note: If you are a DARS VR Counselor and want to earn CEUs, be sure you have registered with the CLM and this webinar system.<\/p>\n<p>Presenter<br \/>\nAnn Horn, Direct Services Program Specialist<br \/>\nDARS Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services<br \/>\nDHHS CEUs approved.<\/p>\n<p>Audio Access<br \/>\nYou can obtain the audio via your computer speakers.
