{"id":31608,"date":"2015-08-14T12:23:30","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T17:23:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/?p=31608"},"modified":"2015-08-14T13:30:25","modified_gmt":"2015-08-14T18:30:25","slug":"job-opportunity-contracted-auditory-impairment-san-antonio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/blog\/2015\/08\/14\/job-opportunity-contracted-auditory-impairment-san-antonio\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Opportunity: Contracted Auditory Impairment &#8211; San Antonio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Opportunity: Contracted Auditory Impairment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Teachers wanted in Brownsville, Harlingen, Kingsville, Corpus Christi and San Antonio<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saspc.org\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.saspc.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The San Antonio Special Programs Co-op is seeking qualified, contract Auditory Impairment Teachers to serve our members schools in the Rio Grande Valley, Coastal Bend, South and Central Texas areas.<br \/>\nJob Objectives:<\/p>\n<p>The Auditory Impairment teacher will work with students, EC?12th grade, who are deaf and\/or hard of hearing, their teachers and families to ensure that required and related services are provided in their home school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Bachelor&#8217;s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;<br \/>\n2. Current Texas or National certification as a teacher of the hearing impaired;<br \/>\n3. Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in special\/deaf education preferred;<br \/>\n4. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and cooperate with various school staff members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terms of Employment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Contracted Services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities and Essential Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.<\/p>\n<p>* Collaborate with school team to develop appropriate services through the IEP process.<br \/>\n* Educate the entire school team in the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.<br \/>\n* Assist student, school faculty and staff with technology for hearing impaired students.<br \/>\n* Distribute technology and train teachers on how to troubleshoot the various technology used by the students including, but not restricted to: hearing aids, cochlear implants, and various types of FM Systems.<br \/>\n* Provide a minimum amount of direct, indirect or consultative instruction to hearing impaired students in areas for which they need additional assistance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills and Abilities Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following characteristics and physical skills are important for the successful performance of assigned duties.<br \/>\n* Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements of an IEP and the ARD process as outlined in Texas.<br \/>\n* Must have a working knowledge of IDEA 2004.<br \/>\n* Must be proficient in the use of a computer, data bases, excel, word, etc. Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.<br \/>\n* Transportation and the ability to move between schools required.<\/p>\n<p>Supervisory Responsibility:<br \/>\nDoes not directly supervise any individuals.<br \/>\nWill report to Lead Educational Specialist<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable:<\/p>\n<p>* Mental Demands\/Physical Demands\/Environmental Factors- \u00a0Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress<br \/>\n* Tools\/Equipment Used- \u00a0Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals<br \/>\n* Posture &#8211; Prolonged sitting; occasional bending\/stooping, pushing\/pulling, and twisting<br \/>\n* Motion &#8211; Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching<br \/>\n* Lifting &#8211; Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)<br \/>\n* Environment &#8211; Frequent travel require<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadline to apply: Until filled<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All Applications will be reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>Not all applicants will be interviewed.<\/p>\n<p>Hiring Managers may choose to email you regarding this application.
