Job Opportunity: Contracted Auditory Impairment<\/strong><\/p>\n

The San Antonio Special Programs Co-op is seeking qualified, contract Auditory Impairment Teachers to serve our members schools in the Rio Grande Valley, Coastal Bend, South and Central Texas areas.
\nJob Objectives:<\/p>\n

The Auditory Impairment teacher will work with students, EC?12th grade, who are deaf and\/or hard of hearing, their teachers and families to ensure that required and related services are provided in their home school.<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
\n2. Current Texas or National certification as a teacher of the hearing impaired;
\n3. Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in special\/deaf education preferred;
\n4. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and cooperate with various school staff members.<\/p>\n

Contracted Services<\/strong><\/p>\n

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.<\/p>\n

* Collaborate with school team to develop appropriate services through the IEP process.
\n* Educate the entire school team in the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
\n* Assist student, school faculty and staff with technology for hearing impaired students.
\n* Distribute technology and train teachers on how to troubleshoot the various technology used by the students including, but not restricted to: hearing aids, cochlear implants, and various types of FM Systems.
\n* Provide a minimum amount of direct, indirect or consultative instruction to hearing impaired students in areas for which they need additional assistance.<\/p>\n

Skills and Abilities Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The following characteristics and physical skills are important for the successful performance of assigned duties.
\n* Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements of an IEP and the ARD process as outlined in Texas.
\n* Must have a working knowledge of IDEA 2004.
\n* Must be proficient in the use of a computer, data bases, excel, word, etc. Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.
\n* Transportation and the ability to move between schools required.<\/p>\n

Supervisory Responsibility:
\nDoes not directly supervise any individuals.
\nWill report to Lead Educational Specialist<\/p>\n

Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable:<\/p>\n

* Mental Demands\/Physical Demands\/Environmental Factors- \u00a0Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
\n* Tools\/Equipment Used- \u00a0Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
\n* Posture – Prolonged sitting; occasional bending\/stooping, pushing\/pulling, and twisting
\n* Motion – Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
\n* Lifting – Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
\n* Environment – Frequent travel require<\/p>\n
