ENJOY THE ANTIQUE FIRE TRUCKS, HYDRANTS, PUMPS, SMOKE HOUSE AND MORE.

FOR INFO: CONTACT CAINCHIASSON@ME.COM OR KIMLOUISEHUNT@YAHOO.COM

The birth of this project goes back many years since the 60’s. A little girl, born and raised in Beaumont Texas, a daughter of Deaf parents grew up seeing communication access not available or denied to her parents and their Deaf friends while they tried to learn about historical places and attend events. It was a long-term dream to make museums/exhibits and events accessible for all of the Deaf who at least passed through her hometown.

A recent tour of the Neches River was interpreted that brought temporary access to the history of the city and surrounding areas. This was not a permanent solution and they yearned for more. Conversations with Cain Chiasson and others lead to an exchange of ideas, talents and a solution.

ASL & technology were combined to make this dream come true through Deaf culture & Cain’s innovation of Virtual QR tours! Permanent accessible tours are being created so any Deaf person can go into select museums and have complete communication access and tour at their own pace and be an equal.

The first one being, The Fire Museum of Texas. This is a work in progress. Let us not stop here. Thank you Cain, The Fire Museum of Texas staff, Joe Bulgherini and all the volunteers involved. Thank you for making a little girl’s dream come true.

This is in tribute to my Deaf parents, Wilson & Margaret LeBlanc, Deaf family, friends and community. Yes, something good does come out of Beaumont, come see us! That little girl was I, Kim LeBlanc Hunt.

This is a unique event which will include the first of its kind in our area permanent ASL Museum tour of the Fire Museum of Texas. The ribbon cutting and reveal will be on October 10, 2015 @ 2 pm. I have included flyers with more information. I also included a short story on how this all got started that I wrote.

We are working on an “ASL” commercial for this event and it should be ready in the next couple of days. I can also send a link of the example of what this tour will look like. It will be accessible through a QR code that will display the 26 different stations, including 2 outside that will gave explanations in ASL of what they are seeing and the history involved. We are excited that this will give accessible to any Deaf person that comes through our city to tour this Museum at any time. It also benefits the Hard of hearing and those that need printed English. The link (which is still under construction) is http://www.VQRTours.com.

There are several on the list that will be added to the ASL tours in our surrounding area. If you need any more information, need the visual clip or have questions please let me know.

SAMPLE: Screen shot of Fire Museum of Texas

DEAF COMMUNITY EVENT COME JOIN US FOR THE RIBBON CUTTING AND THE FIRST PERMANENT ASL TOUR @ THE FIRE MUSEUM OF TEXAS 400 WALNUT IN DOWNTOWN BEAUMONT REVEAL OF TEXAS COME SEE THE LARGEST SPOTTED WORKING FIRE HYDRANT!
