\u00e2\u20ac\u0153How was that?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Interpreters often ask themselves this question
\nduring and after an assignment. How do you talk about your work? What
\nquestions do you ask? What would other professional colleagues have to
\nsay about your work product? This collaborative session will afford
\nparticipants the opportunity to openly and freely talk about their
\nwork product. Feedback and mediated questioning designed to aid the <\/p>\n
interpreter with thinking about the processes of the texts as well as
\npeer-to-peer discussion will be the main format of the workshop.
\nFocused discussion may include: <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 How did you decide to formulate that sign combination for that
\nphrase? <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 At what point did you realize the semantic intent of the phrase
\nand choose to restructure your interpretation? <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Talk about the factors that led you to decide not to include that
\npart of the message in your final product. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Can you recall how many times classifiers were used in that
\nsegment of the discourse? <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Model texts may be taken from a variety of community-based
\ninterpreting situations. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Sample interpretations may be requested from volunteers from the
\ngroup. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 And more! <\/p>\n
This workshop is designed to benefit a wide range of skills among
\ninterpreters. It is offered at the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153intermediate\u00e2\u20ac\u009d level. It is
\nrecommended that participants be comfortable speaking and signing for
\nthemselves in a large group environment. Certified interpreters,
\nCertified Deaf interpreters <\/p>\n
and trilingual interpreters are encouraged to attend. <\/p>\n
This 5-hour workshop will offer 0.5 CEUs\/CMPs (BEI and RID) pending
\napproval. <\/p>\n
