Successful Settlement of Lawsuit <\/p>\n

Last night the City of New Braunfels settled the case brought by
\nMaria Salinas for failing to provide interpreter services to her when
\nthey came to her home to investigate the death of her fiance. <\/p>\n

New Braunfels has agreed to an ADA policy and to call interpreters
\nwhen needed in the future. New Braunfels will pay Ms. Salinas an award
\nof 75,000. <\/p>\n

Ms. Salinas and her lawyers at Advocacy, Inc. are hopeful that this
\nsettlement will help other cities understand the importance of
\ncommunication and the ADA. Special thanks to Resource Specialist John
\nCage at CSD San Antonio for helping Ms. Salinas to initiate the case. <\/p>\n

This was a good day for the deaf community and for New Braunfels,
\nTexas!<\/p>\n
