Interpreted Show: Christmas Carol – San Antonio<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Playhouse, San Antonio and San Antonio College are partnering together to offer an evening for the deaf and hard of hearing at the December 18, 2015<\/strong> performance of A Christmas Carol at 8:00 p.m. Through SAC’s American Sign Language and Interpreter Training program, a student interpreter will be present to translate the performance live for the attending audience.<\/p>\n

A Christmas Carol – Join us for a brand new retelling of Dickens’ classic story of redemption as local artists Tony Ciaravino and Tim Hedgepeth bring a bold voice to the tale of Mr. Scrooge and his lessons in life and the spirit of love.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is the first of what we hope to be many opportunities to offer ASL-friendly performances for the deaf and hard of hearing community at The Playhouse. At SAC, The Department of American Sign Language and Interpreter Training is designed to provide quality ASL and Interpreter education by offering a comprehensive series of classes including, but not limited to ASL, Deaf Culture, and the interpreting process.<\/p>\n

The department strives to provide an environment where students become fully prepared to work as interpreters and deaf support specialist\/service providers for members of this unique population. The Playhouse is proud to support these goals by putting these student’s education in action for our audiences as well as to offer more entertainment options for each and every community member of San Antonio.
