TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF\u2019S PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM PRESENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH<\/strong><\/p>\n

DECEMBER 10-11, 2015<\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 December 10, 2015 \u2013 Tonight at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD), the TSD Performing Arts Program presents, James and the Giant Peach – on stage at 7:00 pm, in the school\u2019s auditorium at 1102 South Congress Avenue – and a matinee performance tomorrow, Friday, December 11 at 10:30 am.<\/p>\n

TSD\u2019s annual middle school theatre production tells the story of James, a young boy, who along with an unusual group of friends, encounter a bizarre world on a wild and weird adventure, where they find with a little magic, anything can \u2013 and does \u2013 happen.<\/p>\n

Told in the students\u2019 native language – American Sign Language (ASL) – TSD\u2019s version adds a whole other component of beauty to the story; something the cast and crew are anxious for the audience to enjoy.<\/p>\n

TSD sixth grader, Joel Pennington – who stars as James – speaks of the anticipation and hard work of his cast and crew mates in bringing this tale to the audience tonight.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have learned so much together, Pennington says, and we are excited to share this with the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Returning for his second year on stage in TSD\u2019s Performing Art Program, 8th grader, Joel Cherichello, likens the production to a school sporting event.<\/p>\n

Cherichello says, \u201cThis may not be a sport, with a ball, but this is our biggest game of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
