Position Summary:<\/p>\n

Our state certified virtual American Sign Language teachers manage online instructional programs for students around the country and across the globe. Teachers communicate regularly with students to ensure that each child successfully completes his\/her instructional program. This is a work from home position. Adjunct teachers are not provided with computer equipment and must have a reliable Internet connection.
\nResponsibilities:<\/p>\n

The American Sign Language teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

* Support the instructional program with synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions using Adobe\u00ae Connect\u2122;
\n* Complete all grading by providing prompt, high-quality, personalized feedback on assignments;
\n* Communicate with students, and other teachers on a regular basis;
\n* Update pacing plans\/schedules for students as required;
\n* Use data to monitor successful completion of assignments and facilitate appropriate interactions with students that encourages consistent interaction with the course(s);
\n* Review curriculum and determine course modifications that will promote student achievement for those requiring accommodations through IEPs or 504 plans;
\n* Consult with team members and CL administrators to develop alternate enrichment activities and lesson modifications to increase student understanding and promote success for struggling students through differentiation;
\n* Develop a general knowledge of the American Sign Language curriculum and a detailed knowledge of the courses for which you are responsible;
\n* Support high-needs\/at-risk students with alternate instructional strategies and provide additional assistance with assignments and projects as needed;
\n* Communicate regularly with students by phone and through the use of our WebMail system;
\n* Keep student performance and participation information up-to-date by grading assessments in a timely manner, and logging all student and parent contacts;
\n* Utilize a variety of communication tools in the online environment to effectively build relationships and promote student success with students, partner teachers, colleagues, and other stakeholders;
\n* Foster community and use a welcoming, warm online voice that is inviting and supportive towards students and families;
\n* Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position. * Bachelor’s Degree required
\n* Highly qualified and certified to teach American Sign Language
\n* Must hold a valid American Sign Language (EC-12) state teaching certificate in Texas (candidates who only have a Texas Deaf and Hard of Hearing (EC-12) cert are not eligible)
\n* Certification in multiple states is a plus
\n* Willingness and ability to obtain certification in other states as requested
\n* Commitment to student achievement
\n* Strong technology skills (especially with MS Office programs)
\n* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
\n* Strong organizational skills
\n* Customer focused approach
\n* High degree of flexibility, especially regarding grade level course assignments
\n* Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
\n* Adheres to all policies regarding protecting students’ well-being and personal information, including following FERPA and Copyright & Fair Use laws
\n* Team player track record
\n* Adjuncts can expect to work up to 20 hours per week, including regular office hours (3 hours per week) and a schedule of synchronous online sessions for each course assigned to teach;
