Job Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n

To assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate College resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process.<\/p>\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules (morning, afternoon, evening and weekends) to accommodate diverse student needs and external stakeholders\u2019 expectations of College as assigned by designated supervisor
\n\u2022 Demonstrates a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population, colleagues and service area
\n\u2022 Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned
\n\u2022 Prepares and delivers instruction to students
\n\u2022 Actively pursues and participates in professional development activities to enhance skills in various modes of instruction and knowledge of learning
\n\u2022 Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks for departmental adoptions, and abides by departmental decisions for textbooks
\n\u2022 Prepares assignments
\n\u2022 May compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments
\n\u2022 Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
\n\u2022 Maintains student attendance records
\n\u2022 Evaluates student performance and learning
\n\u2022 Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students
\n\u2022 Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
\n\u2022 Assists in District commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional performance measures
\n\u2022 Participates in TCC\u2019s institutional effectiveness program including the preparation and evaluations of Student Outcomes Assessment Plans (SOAPs)
\n\u2022 Accepts and participates in the necessary training to offer courses via varied delivery methods such as distance learning
\n\u2022 Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit courses
\n\u2022 Accepts and participates in the service mission of the college
\n\u2022 May conduct research in particular field of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals
\n\u2022 Performs related duties such as advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and acting as adviser to student organizations
\n\u2022 Serves on campus and District committees
\n\u2022 Performs basic student enrollment and recruitment functions, such as community outreach, support of student registration and student retention activities
\n\u2022 Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
\n\u2022 Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
\n\u2022 Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College<\/p>\n

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Associate\u2019s degree or higher in Sign Language Interpreter, Deaf Education, Deaf Studies, ASL, Special Education (with emphasis in deafness), or Communications (with emphasis in deaf education or speech pathology)
\n\u2022 ASL licensure
\n\u2022 Three (3) years related work experience<\/p>\n

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures<\/strong><\/p>\n

American Sign Language (ASL) Instructors:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Master\u2019s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
\n\u2022 Experience in teaching American Sign Language and Deaf Culture
\n\u2022 Fluent in American Sign Language<\/p>\n

Interpreting Instructors:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Current Sign Language Interpreter Certification
\n\u2022 Three (3) or more years of experience in teaching American Sign Language and Deaf Culture
\n\u2022 Fluent in American Sign Language<\/p>\n
