DARS DHHS 2016 Summer Institute!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Training for pre-certified interpreters\u2026 coming soon!!<\/p>\n

The DARS Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) has partnered with various entities to offer several ‘Summer Institute’ trainings this year! Each training in the Summer Institute Series consists of intensive, weeklong skill building workshops, with a specific target audience.<\/p>\n

At this time, DHHS plans to sponsor the following three options in the 2016 Summer Institute Series:<\/p>\n

San Antonio Summer Institute: May 29 – June 3, 2016<\/strong>
\nParticipant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have (1) already passed the Test of English Proficiency (TEP), and (2) have come close, but not yet passed the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 65)<\/p>\n

Fort Worth Summer Institute: August 7 – 12, 2016<\/strong>
\nParticipant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have (1) already passed the Test of English Proficiency (TEP), and (2) taken, but not yet passed, the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 65)<\/p>\n

Houston Summer Institute: August 7 – 11, 2016<\/strong>
\nParticipant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have either (1) graduated from an ITP program and taken the TEP, OR (2) taken, but not yet passed, the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 70)<\/p>\n

*PLEASE NOTE:<\/strong> *Participants are responsible for own arrangements and expenses related to transportation, lodging, meals, incidentals, etc.<\/p>\n

There is no cost for the training itself, but there is limited space. There will be several interpreter training instructors with a limited participant in class size to ensure maximum individualized attention. Participant skills will be assessed, you will be exposed to intensive training to meet your unique needs, and you will spend individual time with an interpreter trainer to receive one-on-one feedback daily.<\/p>\n
