{"id":33741,"date":"2016-06-18T14:16:21","date_gmt":"2016-06-18T19:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/?p=33741"},"modified":"2016-06-18T14:16:21","modified_gmt":"2016-06-18T19:16:21","slug":"some-dars-programs-to-become-part-of-texas-workforce-commission-in-september-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/blog\/2016\/06\/18\/some-dars-programs-to-become-part-of-texas-workforce-commission-in-september-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Some DARS programs to become part of Texas Workforce Commission in September 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Some DARS Programs will transition to the Texas Workforce Commission on September 1, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Good day!<\/p>\n<p>As stakeholders and partners for programs associated with the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), we want to make sure you are aware of some changes coming this fall related to those programs and to introduce ourselves to those of you who may not be familiar with us.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Workforce Solutions is comprised of the Texas Workforce Commission, 28 local workforce development boards and our service providing partners.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of legislation passed dokayuring the 84th legislative session, the programs and services administered by DARS will be transferred to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) beginning on September 1, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>TWC will welcome more than 1,860 DARS employees and more than 96,000 consumers associated with the following programs will become part of our Workforce Solutions service network:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Vocational Rehabilitation program for individuals with visual impairments, including the Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center<\/li>\n<li>The Vocational Rehabilitation program for individuals with other disabilities<\/li>\n<li>The Business Enterprises of Texas program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All other DARS programs will transition to HHSC.<\/p>\n<p>We have been working closely with DARS and HHSC to pave the way for a smooth transition of these services and want to keep you in the loop. We plan to issue updates through email notifications like this one and will continue to provide information on our Transition wepbage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/intra.twc.state.tx.us\/intranet\/gl\/html\/dars_transition.html\">http:\/\/intra.twc.state.tx.us\/intranet\/gl\/html\/dars_transition.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can find information about the programs that will transfer to HHSC on their webpage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhsc.state.tx.us\/hhs-transformation\/index.shtml\">http:\/\/www.hhsc.state.tx.us\/hhs-transformation\/index.shtml<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We will also provide updates on our social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and through our Solutions Blog.
