A Message from the DAD President, Cathy Edler-Ashley: <\/p>\n

Hello Members and Friends of DAD, <\/p>\n

The month of May is already here and, beyond our imagination, our
\nweather HAS BEEN SO NICE so far! <\/p>\n

Even though I have lived in Dallas for more than three years, I just
\nam not too fond of the heat! This cool fresh air certainly helps me
\nbreathe well. <\/p>\n

Last month, when Mike Houston, with Deaf Link, gave a presentation
\nabout Accessible Hazard Alert System (AHAS) at DAD, it was a wonderful
\nlearning experience for us all to find out the various ways on how to
\nalert Deaf people during emergency situations. <\/p>\n

Some of you watched ASL Films “Forget Me Not” movie and met one of
\nthe Deaf actors, Theron Parker. FYI: Theron is returning to Dallas and
\nwill do one-man performance, “UNCUT ASL” on May 10th at 7:00pm. I need
\nto inform those who plan to attend that you would have to be 18 years
\nold or older. If under 18 then he\/she would need to be accompanied by
\none or both of his\/her parents. <\/p>\n

I learned that the ‘Ladies Night’ was a great turn out, and I MISSED
\nIT! Dang it. I know that we ladies want to have more poker fun nights
\nagain soon. Keep your eyes peeled for the next ‘LADIES NIGHT’ date. <\/p>\n

Hey! We are having a Family Movie Night, May 23rd, Friday! Dads, Moms
\nand children (hearing or Deaf) are more than welcome to come to watch
\nthe captioned “The Bee Movie” at 7:00pm. It’s a great opportunity to
\nmeet other Deaf\/hearing parents and children as well. Contact

fyi: the new Senior Citizens met together a couple weeks ago and all
\nagreed the need to set up new guidelines to ensure all agree the same
\nfuture plans and goals. Their next gathering will be on May 24th,
\n10:00 am to 4:00 pm. For more information please contact Susan Lane

\n) who was selected as the Senior Citizens chairperson. <\/p>\n

Ready for some exciting news? The Deaf Happy Hour (DHH) has scheduled
\ntheir next gathering at our clubhouse! It’ll be on May 24th. Ronnie
\nSmith, the new chairperson, and I are looking forward to make this a
\ngreat, successful, & fun evening! <\/p>\n

SCRAPBOOKERS and STAMPERS, mark your calendar, May 31st, for our
\nthird gathering! Check our calendar in near future for more details. <\/p>\n
