Deaf Student Graduates Amarillo College Truck Driving Academy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amarillo College graduates its fourth completely deaf student from their truck driving academy.<\/p>\n

James Hanson received his certificate today.<\/p>\n

He and his case worker searched through several states for a program that helps deaf students.<\/p>\n

Disability services at AC has a graduate who’s completed a two year course in sign language and comes from a truck driving family.<\/p>\n

AC officials say their interpreter plays a key role in helping their students succeed.<\/p>\n

AC officials say they get more calls and questions about their program since their first graduate in 2014.<\/p>\n

They anticipate to have even more students in their program in the future.<\/p>\n
