Job Title: ASL Teacher<\/p>\n
Reports to: Principal<\/p>\n
Pay Grade: District scale<\/p>\n
Dept\/School: High School<\/p>\n
Wage\/Hour Status: Exempt<\/p>\n
Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning
\nactivities and experiences in ASL and to help them fulfill their
\npotential for intellectual, emotional, physcial, and social growth.
\nEnable studetns to develop competencies and skills to function
\nsuccessfully in society.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
Education\/Certification:<\/p>\n
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
\n Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or
\nrequired training for subject and level assigned
\n Demonstrated competency in America Sign Language<\/p>\n
Special knowledge\/skills:<\/p>\n
Knowledge of American Sign Language
\n General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
\n Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
\n Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
At least one year student teaching or approved internship<\/p>\n
