RESCHEDULED DATE FOR HOUSTON’S RALLY AND PROTEST OF THE FORCED USE OF THE VRI<\/p>\n

THE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED DAT OF TUESDAY, AUGUST 9th FOR THE RALLY AND PROTEST OF THE FORCED USE OF THE VRI HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, AUGUST 18th<\/strong> IN ORDER TO GIVE MORE TIME TO CONTACT THE MEDIA (NEWSPAPERS AND TELEVISION) TO BE AT THE RALLY. THE DEAF COMMUNITY IS ASKED TO MEET AT 10am AT MMSC (METROPOLITAN MULTI-SERVICE CENTER) LOCATED AT 1475 WEST GREY STREET. THERE WE WILL BE SHUTTLED TO THE HOUSTON CITY HALL IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON AND MAKE A PRESENTATION AGAINST BEING FORCED TO USE THE VRI. SOME DEAF FIND THAT THE VRI IS SUITABLE FOR THEM AND WE WANT THOSE TO USE WHATEVER INTERPRETING THEY ARE COMFORTABLE WITH.<\/p>\n

HOWEVER, OTHERS WITHIN THE DEAF COMMUNITY ARE FINDING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO USE THE VRI. THEREFORE, THESE DEAF SHOULD HAVE THE CHOICE OF USING LIVE INTERPRETERS. OUR RALLY AND PROTEST COULD BE CALLED “PRO-CHOICE” BECAUSE THAT IS BASICALLY WHAT THE DEAF COMMUNITY IS ASKING FOR, A CHOICE OF INTERPRETING. PLEASE COME OUT AND PARTICIPATE TO SUPPORT THE ENTIRE DEAF COMMUNITY IN THEIR RIGHTS TO HAVE THE INTERPRETING OPTION OF THEIR CHOICE.<\/p>\n
