Project DEED FROM TEXAS WOMAN’S UNIVERSITY Can Train Teachers of the
\nDeaf Completely Over the Internet and is Looking for Qualified
\nIndividuals to Fund! <\/p>\n
The Texas Woman’s University, Department of Communicative Sciences
\nand Disorders, Deaf Education Program is pleased to announce that we
\nare in our third year of Project DEED, Project Distance Education in
\nthe Education of the Deaf, a grant from the federal government to
\nassist those who want to become teachers of the deaf. We are
\nespecially interested in supporting men, minorities, disabled, general
\nand special education teachers, and deaf trainees (even if they are
\nreceiving some support from the vocational rehabilitation agency in
\ntheir state) from across the United States. We may be able to fund the
\ntuition and books of those who are already certified in a teaching
\narea, have a high GPA, sign proficiently, and are able to take all
\nrequired courses for deaf education certification in a distance
\neducation (DE) format. We will fund a cadre of 8 well-qualified
\nindividuals in the TWU teacher preparation program for teachers of the
\nDeaf and Hard of Hearing. Those who do not recieve our funding are
\nwelcome to take courses from us as well whether for certification, a
\nmasters, or advancement pay. <\/p>\n

\nyou qualify for grant support. Those interested can apply at any
\ntime–the next group of trainees will be chosen in the spring, 2009.
