Tyler Junior College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of
\nthe Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane,

\nrecognized as one of the leading two-year institutions in America. <\/p>\n
One of the oldest junior colleges in Texas, the College was
\nestablished in 1926 with a mission of providing the finest academic
\neducation for freshmen and sophomore students. Tyler Junior College
\nremains committed to that goal while also recognizing the changing
\nrole of community colleges and the need to provide quality training

Tyler, population about 83,000, is the seat of Smith County and is
\nlocated approximately 100 miles east of Dallas. The College District
\nserves a population of approximately 174,000 and includes 830 square
\nmiles of territory in six public school districts located in two
\ncounties. <\/p>\n
Tyler Junior College is a public comprehensive community college with
\nan outstanding record of academic quality offering 45 associate degree
\noptions and 35 certificate options. The College serves approximately
\n8,000 students enrolling for credit in academic and vocational
\nprograms and 15,000 students in its continuing education program. <\/p>\n
Along with its superb academic programs, Tyler Junior College boasts
\na 75-acre, tree lined campus, a vibrant student life, eight residence
\nhalls, nationally ranked men\u2019s and women\u2019s intercollegiate
\nathletic programs, and a broad array of student organizations. For the
\nbusiness community, TJC\u2019s Regional Training and Development Complex

JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time, nine-month instructional
\nfaculty position responsible to the dean, university studies. The
\nduties for the position are as follows: <\/p>\n
Teaching courses and serving as role model for faculty members in
\nthe department.
\n Developing curriculum and ensuring it is up to date with current
\npractices of the profession.
\n Coordinating a plan that ensures department effectiveness and
\ndepartment specific accreditation as appropriate.
\n Coordinating and executing a plan that ensures quality instruction.
\n Developing and maintaining links to high schools,
\ncolleges\/universities, and all external learning sites. Coordinating
\ncourse and department articulation.
\n Representing departments to community and prospective students.
\n Recruiting students, as well, as advising new and current students.
\n Developing and keeping records of practicum placements and job
\nplacements.
\n Meeting all applicable deadlines.
\n Recruiting and maintaining a quality part-time faculty pool. Ensure
\ninclusion of part-time faculty in meetings, faculty development
\nactivities, and internal processes
\n Maintaining catalog accuracy for area of responsibility.
\n Coordinating scheduling and registration processes including summer
\nregistration.
\n Coordinating department-specific professional development and
\nensuring follow-up of professional development activities.
\n Preparing and administering budgets.
\n Conducting and documenting department meetings regularly to ensure
\ninvolvement by all faculty in department activities.
\n Coordinating advisory committee activities where applicable and
\nmaintaining records of Advisory Committee meetings.
\n Coordinating enrollment management for assigned area.
\n Coordinating continuing education offerings for assigned area.
\n Maintaining in working order all equipment entrusted to the
\ndepartment.
\n Maintaining contemporary knowledge in area of responsibility.
\n Conducting periodic evaluations of all part-time and full-time
\ntemporary faculty, and participating, as directed by the instructional
\ndean, in the evaluation of all other full-time faculty, and of any
\nother employee assigned to the department.
\n Ensuring compliance with any State and federal laws which may apply
\nto the department, its courses, or to its faculty.
\n Performing other duties as assigned by dean, university studies. <\/p>\n
EQUIREMENTS\/QUALIFICATIONS: <\/p>\n
1. Bachelor\u2019s Degree in sign language required, Master\u2019s
\npreferred. <\/p>\n
2. Interpreter certification\u2014BEI Advanced (or Level III) or RID
\nCI\/CT or related experience. <\/p>\n
3. Teaching experience\u20143-5 years. <\/p>\n
4. Experience in management preferred. <\/p>\n
