Tyler Junior College<br \/>\nremains committed to that goal while also recognizing the changing<br \/>\nrole of community colleges and the need to provide quality training<br \/>\nfor technical fields. <\/p>\n<p>Tyler, population about 83,000, is the seat of Smith County and is<br \/>\nlocated approximately 100 miles east of Dallas. The College District<br \/>\nserves a population of approximately 174,000 and includes 830 square<br \/>\nmiles of territory in six public school districts located in two<br \/>\ncounties. <\/p>\n<p>Tyler Junior College is a public comprehensive community college with<br \/>\nan outstanding record of academic quality offering 45 associate degree<br \/>\noptions and 35 certificate options. The College serves approximately<br \/>\n8,000 students enrolling for credit in academic and vocational<br \/>\nprograms and 15,000 students in its continuing education program. <\/p>\n<p>Along with its superb academic programs, Tyler Junior College boasts<br \/>\na 75-acre, tree lined campus, a vibrant student life, eight residence<br \/>\nhalls, nationally ranked men\u2019s and women\u2019s intercollegiate<br \/>\nathletic programs, and a broad array of student organizations. The<br \/>\nduties for the position are as follows: <\/p>\n<p> Teaching courses and serving as role model for faculty members in<br \/>\nthe department.<br \/>\n Developing curriculum and ensuring it is up to date with current<br \/>\npractices of the profession.<br \/>\n Coordinating a plan that ensures department effectiveness and<br \/>\ndepartment specific accreditation as appropriate.<br \/>\n Coordinating and executing a plan that ensures quality instruction.<br \/>\n Developing and maintaining links to high schools,<br \/>\ncolleges\/universities, and all external learning sites. Coordinating<br \/>\ncourse and department articulation.<br \/>\n Representing departments to community and prospective students.<br \/>\n Recruiting students, as well, as advising new and current students.<br \/>\n Developing and keeping records of practicum placements and job<br \/>\nplacements.<br \/>\n Meeting all applicable deadlines.<br \/>\n Recruiting and maintaining a quality part-time faculty pool. Ensure<br \/>\ninclusion of part-time faculty in meetings, faculty development<br \/>\nactivities, and internal processes<br \/>\n Maintaining catalog accuracy for area of responsibility.<br \/>\n Coordinating scheduling and registration processes including summer<br \/>\nregistration.<br \/>\n Coordinating department-specific professional development and<br \/>\nensuring follow-up of professional development activities.<br \/>\n Preparing and administering budgets.<br \/>\n Conducting and documenting department meetings regularly to ensure<br \/>\ninvolvement by all faculty in department activities.<br \/>\n Coordinating advisory committee activities where applicable and<br \/>\nmaintaining records of Advisory Committee meetings.<br \/>\n Coordinating enrollment management for assigned area.<br \/>\n Coordinating continuing education offerings for assigned area.<br \/>\n Maintaining in working order all equipment entrusted to the<br \/>\ndepartment.<br \/>\n Maintaining contemporary knowledge in area of responsibility.<br \/>\n Conducting periodic evaluations of all part-time and full-time<br \/>\ntemporary faculty, and participating, as directed by the instructional<br \/>\ndean, in the evaluation of all other full-time faculty, and of any<br \/>\nother employee assigned to the department.<br \/>\n Ensuring compliance with any State and federal laws which may apply<br \/>\nto the department, its courses, or to its faculty.<br \/>\n Performing other duties as assigned by dean, university studies. <\/p>\n<p>EQUIREMENTS\/QUALIFICATIONS: <\/p>\n<p>1. Bachelor\u2019s Degree in sign language required, Master\u2019s<br \/>\npreferred. <\/p>\n<p>2.
