Qualifications: <\/p>\n
High School Diploma or GED equivalency
\n Associate\u2019s degree or higher related to Interpreting or the field
\nof deafness preferred.
\n Certificate in Interpreting issued by either the Division of Deaf
\nand Hard of Hearing services (BEI) or the Registry of Interpreters for
\nthe Deaf (RID).
\n Experience working with children. <\/p>\n
Terms of employment: Probationary\/Term Contract: 187 days <\/p>\n
Salary: Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the board of
\ndirectors for the school year 2007-2008. <\/p>\n
Minimum $21,527 — Midpoint $25,267 — Maximum $29,007<\/p>\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS <\/p>\n
Interpret\/transliterate according to the specifications of the
\nstudent\u2019s Individualized Education <\/p>\n
Program (IEP).
\n Be informed, monitor and report to the deaf education itinerant
\nteacher when concerns arise about the student\u2019s modifications as
\napproved by the Admissions Review Dismissal Committee (ARD).
\n Become and remain well-versed in course material in order to
\ndemonstrate competency in <\/p>\n
interpreting\/or transliterating.
\n Interact in a professional manner with administrators, teachers,
\nstaff, students, visitors, or <\/p>\n
individuals unfamiliar with the educational setting.
\n Assist with In Class Support in the mainstream setting of General
\nEducation or Special Education.
\n Assist in providing general supervision to deaf students.
\n Demonstrate flexibility when role shifts take place (ie. in class
\nsupport vs. interpreting in the <\/p>\n
classroom).
\n Participate in continuing professional growth as required by the
\ncertification governing body (TX <\/p>\n
Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing).
\n Demonstrate professionalism in all ethical areas, especially in
\napplying the Interpreter Code of <\/p>\n
Ethics to the educational setting.
\n Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal, Special
\nEd Coordinator of the Humble Regional Day School for the Deaf, or as
\ndetermined by specific are of assignment.<\/p>\n
