TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF VARSITY VOLLEYBALL<\/strong> Austin, Texas \u2013 November 3, 2016 After taking the tournament title at this year\u2019s Spike-Out Tournament played in Indiana, the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) Rangers Volleyball Team was today named by Barry Strassler, of DeafDigest Sports, 2016 Volleyball Team of the Year.<\/p>\n With a tough schedule against many larger schools, the TSD Rangers finished the season fourth in district play, qualifying the team for the play-offs.<\/p>\n Additionally, the Rangers faced all but one winning-record opponent in non-district play, finishing with 23 wins.<\/p>\n Head Volleyball Coach, RJ Kaufman says, \u201cIt’s an honor to be selected as Team of Year by DeafDigest Sports.<\/p>\n Before the season, he says, our main goals were to win the Spike Out Tournament, finish with a winning record, qualify for the state playoffs, and be recognized as Team of the Year.<\/p>\n On the team, Kaufman adds, we had role players who were regularly rotated to fill in in various positions given different situations so this honor really validates our hard work this year.\u201d<\/p>\n TSD Athletic Director, Chris Hamilton notes that \u201cStrassler has followed Deaf schools\u2019 athletics closely for many years, and the Deaf community respects his extreme knowledge of sports, so this is something that means a lot to us.\u201d<\/p>\n #<\/p>\n ABOUT THE TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF (TSD)<\/p>\n The Texas School for the Deaf is the oldest continuously operating public school in Texas.
