A Message from the DAD President, Cathy Edler-Ashley: <\/p>\n
Hello Members and Friends of DAD, <\/p>\n
The Parliamentary Procedure Workshops with Libby Pollard was an
\neducational workshop for me and the participants. Special thanks to
\nJack Rosenthal, Chair, and his committee: Marianne Sasseen, Larry
\nCampero, Lisa Wynn and Maxine Satarino for making that weekend a
\nsuccessful one. We had a few other organizations, outside of the
\nDallas vicinity, who took their time to attend and they, too,
\nexpressed how much they learned from this wonderful learning
\nexperiences. The luncheon was provided by CSDVRS which was enjoyed by
\nall. We were able to eat and chat, in between the workshops. Thank
\nyou, Kathy Walters. <\/p>\n
The \u201cUNCUT ASL\u201d ,with Theron Parker, was quite a performance that
\nhas given some mixture of opinions among the audiences. I most
\ncertainly hope to see more Deaf\/HH performers to give their talents at
\nour clubhouse. Please do contact me, as we always love to see more ASL
\nstories, folklores\/legends, and\/or jokes. <\/p>\n
When \u201cThe Bee Movie\u201d was showing, during Family Movie Night, many
\nof us found ourselves relaxed while watching the movie. Since we would
\nlike to try to make ithis our monthly event, Cindi Nagy shared with me
\nthat \u201cI AM LEGEND\u201d with Will Smith, will be shown on Friday
\nevening, June 20. Even though it is a PG-13 I have been informed there
\nare some scary moments in this movie. <\/p>\n
Many were awed by the renovation of our BAR AREA! That\u2019s right –
\nthe two Ashley guys (Preston Jr. and Preston Sr.) got into their tool
\ngears again. Not only the bar area, the restrooms are being
\n\u201cuplifted\u201d as well. I must apologize to those who came and found
\nonly ONE toilet working for three weekends. I appreciate your patience
\nand forgive our dust! Also I want to thank all those who made
\ndonations and\/or left tips to help the building fund. <\/p>\n
I want to express my appreciation to the following individuals: Laura
\nLemmon-Moore, Maxine Satarino, David Normand, Kent Reneau, Chris
\nNicolay, Dennis Hill, Brent Going, Jimmy Cooksey , and anyone else
\nwhom I haven\u2019t named, who took a moment to stop in and helped out a
\nbit in between. No DAD is not done! The Ashley guys could use
\nanyone\u2019s help with finishing up the restrooms and bar area. Please

, if you do desire to come and help DAD. <\/p>\n
Preston Sr. and his beloved red Ford F150 truck visited the Dallas
\ncity garage dumps frequently that he could be an employee for the City
\nof Dallas one day! After he made so many trips there and back to DAD
\nhis poor truck ran into several nails. It amazed me how the truck
\nsurvived with only three flat tires after all of those trips. <\/p>\n
A couple of weeks ago Deaf Happy Hour (DHH) had their gathering at
\nour clubhouse for the first time,. Wow, what a wonderful turnout.
\nThere were two baseball teams doing their food fund raising to support
\ntheir teams to attend the upcoming SWAD Baseball Tournament. One team
\nwas selling Mexican food and the other team was selling BBQ hot dogs
\nand chicken. We had approximately 200 people there and, in my
\nperspective, everyone had a great time. <\/p>\n
Note to all North Texas Deaf Poker players, the committee decided to
\nreschedule July 5th NTDP to July 11th , Friday evening, due to
\nIndependence Day being on Friday, July 4th. The committee felt that
\nmany of you may be traveling for vacations for a long weekend. For
\nthose of you, who are not traveling, come to DAD on July 4th, at
\n4:00pm. Laura Lemmon-Moore, chair, plans tol have a cookout plus
\ngames. Please bring a potluck to share. Please see our July 4th flyer
\nfor more information. <\/p>\n
