Traffic accidents led to the deaths of two Montgomery County residents
\nearly Thursday as they drove along different sections of Interstate
\n45. <\/p>\n

Conroe resident Adam Grant Landrum, 26, was driving his motorcycle in
\nThe Woodlands around 1:30 a.m. when a truck pulled in front of him,
\naccording to a family member. He was pronounced deceased at Memorial
\nHermann The Woodlands Hospital Thursday morning, hospital personnel
\nconfirmed. <\/p>\n
The Texas Department of Public Safety could not confirm details of
\nthe accident. <\/p>\n
Willis resident George Gray, 41, was killed during a multiple vehicle
\nwreck around 5:30 a.m. on I-45 near the Airtex exit in Harris County,
\naccording to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. <\/p>\n
Landrum was still dealing with the death of his 17-year-old sister,
\nJaclyn Landrum, the family member said. The Oak Ridge High School
\njunior was killed when her vehicle crashed into the rear axles of an
\n18-wheeler that was turning into a driveway April 16. She was
\nnorthbound on the I-45 feeder road, south of FM 1488. <\/p>\n
Adam Landrum, who was deaf, graduated from ORHS in 2001. <\/p>\n
In a separate accident, Gray was southbound on I-45 when the right
\nside of his 2002 Ford Explorer sideswiped the driver’s side of a 1997
\nJeep Cherokee, causing the Jeep to spin onto the outside shoulder,
\naccording to an HCSO press release. <\/p>\n
“He was driving at a high rate of speed,” HCSO Lt. John Legg said
\nGray proceeded southbound and the front left side of his vehicle
\nstruck the back right side of a 1999 Chevrolet Astro van, according to
\nthe press release. The second collision occurred nearly 850 feet south
\nof the first one and caused both the Explorer and van to spin out of
\ncontrol, strike the inside retaining wall and continue traveling south
\non the inside shoulder for more than 200 feet before coming to a stop.<\/p>\n
“You have a situation where you have an out-of-control driver as a
\nresult of the first accident,” Legg said. “There’s no indication he
\nwas trying to flee the scene of the first collision.” <\/p>\n
The impact of the second collision caused Gray’s Explorer to flip
\nover after striking the retaining wall and slide on its roof for
\napproximately 190 feet before stopping, according to a HCSO press
\nrelease. <\/p>\n
Gray died at the scene. The driver of the van had minor injures that
\nincluded cuts and scrapes, but remained at the scene, according to a
\nHCSO press release. The 39-year-old woman driving the Jeep was able to
\nstop her vehicle and pull to the outside shoulder. She and her
\n9-month-old child, who was in a car seat in the right rear, were not
\ninjured. <\/p>\n
