{"id":36417,"date":"2017-10-12T15:16:27","date_gmt":"2017-10-12T20:16:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/?p=36417"},"modified":"2017-10-12T15:16:27","modified_gmt":"2017-10-12T20:16:27","slug":"vocational-rehabilitation-services-support-for-people-affected-by-hurricane-harvey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/blog\/2017\/10\/12\/vocational-rehabilitation-services-support-for-people-affected-by-hurricane-harvey\/","title":{"rendered":"Vocational Rehabilitation Services Support for People Affected by Hurricane Harvey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Vocational Rehabilitation Services Support for People Affected by Hurricane Harvey<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Are you a current Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services* customer who was affected by Hurricane Harvey?<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Texas Workforce Commission\u2019s response to help those affected by recent hurricanes and flooding, the agency has received additional funding from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) to support current and past vocational rehabilitation (VR) customers. This additional funding will support current and former VR customers who may have had their employment situation disrupted by the storms or to assist with the replacement of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) lost due to flooding or other reasons related to the disaster caused by Hurricane Harvey.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services (TWS-VRS) counselors are assessing customers who may qualify for replacement of equipment such as hearing aids; mobility devices such as scooters, wheelchairs or walkers; computers equipped with hardware adaptations or specialized software for a specific disability, etc.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more about a possible replacement of assistive technology or equipment related to your employment or to learn about other VR services that may be available to assist you in regaining or retaining employment, please contact your nearest TWS-VRS office.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twc.state.tx.us\/offices\/vr-general-services.html\">http:\/\/www.twc.state.tx.us\/offices\/vr-general-services.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are an employer and are aware of an employee with a disability who has been impacted by Hurricane Harvey, you may refer the employee to the nearest TWC-VRS office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>*You also may be eligible if you are a former Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) customer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Link: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twc.state.tx.us\/offices\/vr-general-services.html\">http:\/\/www.twc.state.tx.us\/offices\/vr-general-services.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vocational Rehabilitation Services Support for People Affected by Hurricane Harvey Are you a current Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services* customer who was affected by Hurricane Harvey?
