WHAT FOR?<\/p>\n

We are excited to have a guest speaker, Olivia Rains, Assistive Technology and Marketing Specialist, with Texas Technology Access Program \u2013 University of Texas at Austin, come and share what her program can do for individuals with hearing loss and\/or disabilities. The following is a session \u201cHow to Request a Reasonable Accommodation or Auxiliary Service\u201d presented by Brian Determan, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Access Specialist, funded by HHSC \u2013Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing through the Communication Axess Ability Group.<\/p>\n

HEY, I HAVE SEVERAL QUESTIONS FOR YOU.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. As an individual, who is deaf or hard of hearing or has hearing loss, have you ever got stuck with one assistive listening device that is ineffective or no longer effective, and you know what else to do?
\n2. Do you ever wish to try different assistive devices before you determine which works for you, but you don\u2019t know if they are available before you purchase the right one?
\n3. In a meanwhile, are you clueless or not sure with how to appropriately make a reasonable accommodation request in your workplace or to request a specific auxiliary service in a place that is open to the public?<\/p>\n

If you answer \u201cYes\u201d to one or more above questions, you are encouraged to attend the training to become aware with the available tools and\/or resources used by individuals with hearing loss to help improve their quality of life and increase their independence.<\/p>\n
