We hope you all had a great Mother\u2019s Day with your family and
\nfriends! Great News! The warmer weather is back! School\u2019s are almost
\nover for the summer and vacations are being planned.<\/p>\n
We wanted to tell you how sorry we are about the very late newsletter
\ndue to so many things going on with TCD. We know that you enjoy
\nreading our monthly newsletters. We do the best as much as we can.<\/p>\n
It is unbelievable that our TCD celebrated our first year anniversary
\nsince we had a Grand Opening a year ago. Please join us in celebrating
\nour one-year anniversary.<\/p>\n
We bet that you were looking forward to receiving your Stimulus
\nrefund check from IRS to spend on what you need.<\/p>\n
The price for postage stamps was increased by 1 cent to 42 cents on
\nMay 12, 2008.<\/p>\n
The price for gas goes up again and forces people to use other
\ntransportation to save money by using less gasoline. It hurts our
\neconomy badly for increases in gas, food and stamps.<\/p>\n
In May, TCD hosted Casino game but there were not many people
\ninterested in these games to play. We have decided not to host a
\nCasino game again for the future. We had so much fun chatting and
\nmeeting some new faces. Some people played the game and enjoyed it.<\/p>\n
In May, the board and members of TCD attended Parliamentary Workshop
\nat Dallas Association of the Deaf (DAD) in Dallas for the whole
\nweekend. It was worthwhile to attend and learn so much about
\nParliamentary. We had so much fun doing the mocks. We thanked Libby
\nfor coming and made great lectures about Parliamentary. We gave her a
\nthank you card and gift to let her know that we appreciated having her
\nbeing there to teach us.<\/p>\n
In June, TCD will be hosting the 4th Annual Deaf Picnic on June 28th
\nat Waterloo Lake Park. After the picnic, we will go to our social
\nnight at Elks Lodge in Sherman. The Cash Bar will be open for anyone
\nover 21 years old to drink. You can find more information and map at
\nTCD website. There are some activities for the kids and adults to play
\nat the picnic. Come and have fun with us.<\/p>\n
We had our 2nd sign language class with approximately 9 students for
\n15 weeks and they enjoy learning sign language. They seem so motivated
\nto learn signs. We teach sign language class on Tuesdays.<\/p>\n
We would like to thank Sam\u2019s Club for the LCD projector for our
\nTCD. Thanks, Sam\u2019s Club.<\/p>\n

We would like to thank Tammie, Gregory\u2019s mother, for donating the
\nbrand new grill for our TCD deaf picnic. Thanks, Tammie.<\/p>\n
FYI, TCD joined the Sherman Chambers of Commerce as a member. They
\nwill put our TCD in their website to advertise our TCD and referrals.<\/p>\n

On May 23 & 24, 2008, Deborah Young, vice-president of TCD, attended
\nat Oklahoma School for the Deaf (O.S.D.) in Sulphur, OK for the
\nCentennial 100 years Anniversary. When Deborah arrived at O.S.D., She
\nwas shocked to see the fences put up around O.S.D. due to security
\nreasons. Wow, her classmates and old friends looked so different,
\nchanged and get older. She hasn\u2019t seen them for 34 years and some
\nfriends for 36 years. It has been so long time. Deborah was so happy
\nto see them again. She stayed at the O.S.D. dorm for two days. The
\ndorm where she stayed has a lot of changes and now everything is so
\nnew. She really enjoyed at the O.S.D. Reunion and saw friends. Those
\npeople are like a family to her. It was so special moments in her
\nlife. She was so glad that she had the chance to go and got some
\nflashbacks of old times.<\/p>\n
We wished Scott and Lynn the happy anniversary. Wish you both for
\nmore years to continue their marriage.<\/p>\n
We will have general meeting on CSDVRS hosted V-Meeting. If you are
\ninterested in a V-Meeting, all you have to do is set up V-Meeting in
\nyour Videophone (VP) under CSDVRS, or if you need help, CSDVRS will
\ncome by to add CSDVRS on your VP and give you free new toll free 800
\nnumber. It will be live chat through relay by VP. If you are
\ninterested to receive the information about V-Meeting, please contact

\nand we will help you to set up the V-Meeting in your VP.<\/p>\n

\n75091. Or you can come to our next event to sign up to become a TCD
\nmember.<\/p>\n
We are looking for two volunteers to become the Board of Trustee and
\none Photographer for our TCD. If anyone interested in a position,
\nplease email Scott, the president at president@texomadeafclub.org<\/p>\n
. We are looking for one of Board of Trustee and Photographer who is
\nwilling and motivated to fill this position. Great news! We got new
\nBoard of Trustee! Please welcome Kathy Walters to our team!<\/p>\n
TCD is a non-profit organization with section 501 (c) (3) and we do
\nhave a fund if you wish to send money order or check to us. Please
\nmake sure to note that it is specifically for the fund on your
\ncheck\/money order.<\/p>\n
