Classes Fill Up Fast – Come Register NOW!<\/b><\/p>\n

Exciting things are happening at Austin Community College! \u00a0As the largest community college serving the Texas Deaf Community, ACC enrolls more than 180 deaf and hard of hearing students each year. \u00a0Students come to ACC from across Texas, as well as from other states and other countries. \u00a0Our students come to ACC for many reasons:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Our deaf-friendly services and excellent Interpreters and more than 30 deaf faculty and staff;<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>To take classes for transfer to a four-year college or university;<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>To advance in or train for jobs like Welding, Building Construction, Automotive, Culinary Arts;<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>To improve basic reading, writing, and math skills, or<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>To take Continuing Education classes just for self-improvement or just for fun!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    ACC has an excellent ASL ESOL (English for Speakers\/Signers of other Languages) program that is designed for direct communication in ASL and written English. \u00a0See our exciting website and video here: \u00a0<\/span>http:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/esol\/asl\/<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ASL fluent Instructors who are also certified in Deaf Education teach our ASL ESOL classes. \u00a0A Deaf Counselor provides advising, registration, counseling, college transfer and workforce planning assistance for all students. \u00a0We also have a new Deaf Math Instructor! Free Tutoring by both Deaf and hearing tutors fluent in ASL is provided, with access to computers, webcams, and other technology. \u00a0ACC\u2019s Interpreter Services (IS) has quality Interpreters who provide full communication access for ACC students, faculty, and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing, plus we offer CART and speech-to-text captioning services as well. \u00a0The ASLIT-American Sign Language and Interpreting Training program serves more than 1,250 students each year \u2013 check out their website here:<\/span> http:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/aslit\/<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Deaf students at ACC major in virtually every field, ranging from Jewelry to Calculus, Interpreting, Automotive, Physics, Culinary Arts, Building Construction, Renewable Energy, Social Work, Radiology and Education. \u00a0ACC has Articulation Agreements with NTID and Gallaudet University for transfer of college credits between schools, and the Gallaudet University Regional Center-South (GURC-S), located on the ACC-Riverside Campus <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>www.austincc.edu\/gurcsouth<\/span><\/a> offers a 2+2 transfer program for an AAS to BA degree in Interpreting at Gallaudet University.<\/span><\/p>\n
