Participants will explore and gain exposure to the different tenets of Visual Vernacular which include the discussion to demonstrate the tenets of Visual Vernacular.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ethics &amp; Team Interpreting from the Deaf Perspective<\/strong> &#8211; On February 17, I will be introducing the work of The CPC from deaf perspective. Interpreters will learn about Ethics and Team Interpreting. Basically is that everyone else will learn the proper ways of what should be done and what should not be done. Also this is coming from a Deaf perspective that needs to address, and hopefully to have them understand, every concept of this new experience and to empower the Team Interpreters.<\/p>\n<p>My goal is for this presentation is to help interpreters to be more aware of what the Team Interpreters roles are and what the Deaf consumers expect from Team Interpreters. I will elaborate these then we\u2019ll have a group discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Learning Objectives (Justin):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To convey information visually via an ASL linguistic\/storytelling technique known as Visual Vernacular<\/li>\n<li>To hone facial expression, gestures, mime skills, and body language<\/li>\n<li>To create a deeper connection to the information being presented visually for Deaf consumers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Learning Objectives (Cruz)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe various tenets of the CPC, as applied to teaming, from a Deaf perspective.<\/li>\n<li>Cite examples of the Team Interpreters&#8217; role based on Deaf expectations.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze decisions interpreters face when working with a team, whether Deaf or Hearing in their day-to-day work.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the impact of their decisions on the consumers of interpreting services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This workshop will be presented in ASL<\/p>\n<p>Lunch on your own<\/p>\n<p>Snacks and drinks provided by Signs2go<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration: Now open.
