The mission of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is to promote and support a
\nworkforce system that creates value and offers employers, individuals and
\ncommunities the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity. To
\nsupport our mission, we are seeking to fill a Vocational Rehabilitation
\nCounselor (VRC) I-IV position to join the Tarrant County South Mgmt Unit
\nDepartment. This position is located at 2400 Circle Dr, Suite 200, Ft. Worth,
\nTX.<\/p>\n

The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) I-IV performs routine to advanced
\nvocational rehabilitation work in support of the mission, goals and values of
\nthe Texas Workforce Commission. VRC I-IV applies critical thinking skills and
\nsound decision making in performance of routine rehabilitation work in the
\nVocational Rehabilitation (VR) program. This program assists eligible
\nindividuals with disabilities to prepare for, retain, obtain and\/or advance in
\ncompetitive, integrated employment and includes assisting students with
\ndisabilities to transition successfully from high school to postsecondary
\neducation and employment.<\/p>\n

The ideal candidate will perform work using the applicable policy, guidance, and
\nthe electronic case management system. The VRC I-IV is hired by the VR
\nSupervisor with the approval of the VR Manager, and works independently, with
\nmoderate to minimal supervision by the VR Supervisor.<\/p>\n

Position requires American Sign Language competency skills due to this caseload
\nbeing Deaf\/Hard of Hearing. A demonstration of writing and signing skills (using
\nAmerican Sign language) will be expected.<\/p>\n

GENERAL DUTIES:
\n– Assists eligible individuals with disabilities to prepare for, retain, obtain
\nand\/or advance in competitive, integrated employment and includes assisting
\nstudents with disabilities to transition successfully from high school to
\npostsecondary education and employment
\n– Develops and maintains relations with community referral sources, businesses,
\nemployers and schools
\n– Collects and analyzes all information necessary to make an accurate
\neligibility decision (e.g. medical, psychological, school records, employment
\nrecords, etc.)
\n– Assists the customer in choosing an appropriate employment by analyzing
\ninformation to determine the customer\u2019s strengths, resources, priorities,
\nconcerns, abilities, capabilities and interests, and matching that information
\nto the current job market
\n– Works with the consumer to develop a plan of services designed to achieve the
\nconsumer\u2019s identified employment goals
\n– Ensures timely, cost-effective provision of services and consumer progress
\ntoward achievement of their employment goal
\n– Develops and implements a process leading to successful job placement
\n– Applies best value purchasing practices and uses available, comparable
\nbenefits and services to ensure effective use of public funds
\n– Performs other duties as assigned<\/p>\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
\nA Master\u2019s degree with a major in Rehabilitation Counseling OR a Master\u2019s
\ndegree in counseling or related degrees such as Special Education, Social Work,
\nPsychology, or Human Services from an accredited college or university plus one
\nyear of related work experience OR current Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
\n(CRC) certificate or current Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential.
\nApplicants selected who do not have a Master\u2019s degree in Rehabilitation
\nCounseling or CRC certificate or LPC credential will be required to meet the
\nComprehensive System of Personnel Development educational requirements within a
\ntime frame established upon employment. This will entail taking specific courses
\nthat focus on the professional role of a Rehabilitation Counselor.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
\nOther Master\u2019s degree plus two (2) years related work experience, OR
\nBachelor\u2019s degree with a major in vocational rehabilitation from an accredited
\ncollege or university plus one (1) year related work experience; OR Bachelor\u2019s
\ndegree with major in Counseling, Education, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology,
\nor Public Health from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years
\nrelated work experience; OR Other Bachelor\u2019s degree plus three (3) years
\nrelated work experience.
\nCopy of official transcripts, certifications and\/or credentials will be
\nrequested at the time of interview.<\/p>\n

This position involves up to 30% travel, and method of transportation is the
\nresponsibility of employee. Counselors are required to travel to reach their
\nassigned consumers on a regular basis. Thus, travel is required for this
\nposition.<\/p>\n

This is a career ladder position, and depending on required qualifications and
\nexperience, may be filled at any level from a VRC I to VRC IV. Thus, the salary
\nrange for this position is $3,284.00-$6,149.00 per month. TWC not only offers a
