NAD Announces New Board of Directors<\/p>\n
Silver Spring, MD \u2013 Delegates at the 48th Biennial National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Conference, held June 28-July 4, 2006 in Palm Desert, California, elected new members of the NAD Board of Directors.<\/p>\n
Elected members of the NAD Board of Directors for 2006-2008 are Bobbie Beth Scoggins, President; Christopher D. Wagner, Vice President; Thomas J. Dillon III, Treasurer; Nancylynn Ward, Secretary; Julie C. Bourne, Region I Representative; Jack L. Cooper, Region II Representative; Linsay Darnall, Jr., Region II Representative; Lissette M. Molina, Region III Representative; and John C. Dickinson, Region IV Representative.<\/p>\n
The individuals above will join continuing members of the NAD Board of Directors: Yerker J. Andersson, Region I Representative; Lynn Z. Null, Region III Representative, and Genie Gertz, Region IV Representative. Chief Executive Officer Nancy J. Bloch also serves as Ex Officio Member of the NAD Board.<\/p>\n
“The new NAD Board of Directors is already energized and moving forward on a number of fronts,” said Scoggins. “With the exciting dynamic following the 2006 NAD Conference, many individuals are coming forward to become part of the NAD and its new strategic focus — their active and enthusiastic involvement will literally change the face of the NAD to be more reflective of the diversity within the American deaf and hard of hearing community.”<\/p>\n
Scoggins continued, “I also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to past members of the NAD Board for their leadership, expertise, and commitment during the last two years \u2013 Andrew J. Lange, President; Mark D. Apodaca, Vice President; Nancy B. Rarus, Secretary; Charles M. Reisinger, Region I Representative; Ernest Northup, Region II Representative, and Norma Lea Chrismon, Region IV Representative. I am also delighted to that that they have expressed their intent to remain involved with and be of support to the new NAD Board.”<\/p>\n
The NAD Board of Directors recently posted its tentative structure for standing committees and strategic teams on the NAD website, inviting interested persons to apply for consideration.<\/p>\n
The first official meeting of the NAD Board will be held September 11-12, 2006 in Louisville, Kentucky. The Board will undergo a training\/retreat session during the two days preceding the official meeting.
