Host by Deaf Bible Society, located at: 230 Westway Place,\u00a0Suite 101, Arlington, TX, 76018. Time: 9:00 AM TO 2:00 PM Limited to 50\u00a0participants, a soup and salad lunch is included.<\/p>\n

WORKSHOP: Interpreting Like Deaf People Talk<\/strong><\/p>\n

This workshop will address features that occur naturally in American Sign\u00a0Language; features that may not be present in the language of second language\u00a0learners. The goal of our interpreting is to use language that is most readily\u00a0understood by all participants. In light of this, we must strive to adapt our\u00a0interpretations and language usage so that it\u00a0resembles that of native and natural users of the language. If we wish for our\u00a0interpretation to be accessible to Deaf people – ASL features such as non-manual\u00a0markers, cohesive devices, classifiers, ASL syntax\/grammar, expansion\u00a0techniques, along with other features, must be incorporated into our language\u00a0and subsequently our interpretations. This workshop will introduce various ASL\u00a0features with opportunity to practice incorporating such features into our work\u00a0and language.<\/p>\n

TSID is an Approved RID, CMP Sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This\u00a0Professional Studies program is offered for 0.4 CEUs at the \u201cSome Content\u00a0Knowledge Level.\u201d Workshop will be taught in ASL, no voice interpretation\u00a0provided.<\/p>\n
