The primary purpose of the DI is facilitating, supporting, and maximizing the integration and inclusion of the DSDE Deaf and Hard of Hearing faculty and staff within the Lamar University community, and the greater national and international academic and research communities. As a staff member in the DSDE Department, the DI is expected to support the Department\u2019s growth and advancement through positive and respectful interaction and relationship with University faculty, staff, and students, as well as individuals and entities outside the University. The DI accepts responsibility for knowledge of, and adherence to the ethics of interpreting and the role of the interpreter, with particular emphasis applied to the maintaining of confidentiality as the DI participates in university proceedings and proprietary research.
