August 4 – August 10, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applicants are now invited to apply for Camp SIGN, an outdoor experience program hosted by the Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (ODHHS) at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC)!<\/p>\n

Camp SIGN is held just 35 miles north of Houston at Camp Misty Meadows in Conroe, Texas, which is owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto, Inc. Activities may include: swimming, archery, arts and crafts, horseback riding, STEM, team building, and drama.<\/p>\n

REGISTRATION\/APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1) Campers<\/strong> — youth between the ages of 8 and 17 who are deaf or hard of hearing. View application instructions HERE: https:\/\/attendee.gotowebinar.com\/recording\/1055739365943833089<\/a><\/p>\n

2) Counselors<\/strong> — persons age 18 and older, with leadership skills and interest in working with youth who are deaf or hard of hearing, may apply for a counselor, lead counselor, activity counselor or junior counselor position. ABOUT CAMP SIGN:<\/p>\n

Camp SIGN provides an environment of acceptance and encouragement for youth ages 8 through 17, who are deaf or hard of hearing, regardless of their communication mode. Camp SIGN strives to reduce the isolation often felt by persons who are deaf or hard of hearing by offering a place to socialize with others with similar means of communicating.<\/p>\n
