I’m an Early Intervention Specialist with Easter Seals Central Texas
\nECI. I was just contacted by the case manager at Brackenridge hospital
\nwho is trying desperately to acquire some equipment for a deaf mom
\nwith very limited resources and her child in the NICU. The baby is
\ndoing relatively well, and is expected to be discharged in the next
\nfew days. <\/p>\n
Our problem is that mom needs a crier\/flasher with a receiver and an
\nadapter so that she may know when her child needs to eat. The baby is
\na preemie and has some very particular needs, and in order to help
\nthis mom as much as possible, the hospital staff is scrambling to
\nacquire this equipment. TCSDHH has been no help, and with DARS nothing
\ncan be done until the child is enrolled in ECI (which we can’t do
\nuntil the baby is discharged), but the baby can’t be discharged
\nwithout the equipment. <\/p>\n
Forgive me for this rambling email, but we’re not sure where to turn.
\nDoes TSD have any resources to help in this situation? Or would you
\nknow where we may look to acquire (rent\/purchase\/borrow) the needed
\nequipment? <\/p>\n
