JOB OPENINGS: SIGN LANGUAGE ITP<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tyler Junior College\u2019s Sign Language Interpreter Training Program (ITP), located in East Texas, is looking to fill two part-time, face-to-face positions. TJC\u2019s ITP is the only program conveniently located between Dallas and Shreveport. Twice awarded Exemplary Status by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, we offer small class sizes, meeting best practice standards. We collaborate with TJC\u2019s healthcare and other programs to offer mutual training regarding interpreting and working with consumers who are Deaf. Job Title: Adjunct Professor, ASL

Position Description
\nProfessors provide classroom instruction and college services and are responsible to department chairs and instructional deans. Exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.<\/p>\n

Qualifications
\n\u2022 Master\u2019s degree in Sign Language or a related field, with a minimum of 18 hours of courses in the field
\n\u2022 Proven native fluency in American Sign Language, Deaf Culture and written English
\n\u2022 Knowledge and teaching skills of ASL Linguistics
\n\u2022 Working knowledge\/skills using technology in teaching ASL<\/p>\n

Preferred Education
\n\u2022 Teaching experience \u2013 minimum 3 years
\n\u2022 Interpreter certification \u2013 CDI (state or national)
\n\u2022 Member of ASLTA<\/p>\n

Qualifications
\n\u2022 Evidence of native fluency in American Sign Language<\/p>\n

Competencies
\n\u2022 Must have strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft programs. GoReact, Sans Sony Soloist and Canvas experience is a plus.
\n\u2022 Ability to meet goals and work effectively in a team environment with both Deaf and hearing teams.
\n\u2022 Must be able to respect confidentiality, implement problem solving and maintain courtesy in dealing with students, faculty, staff and visitors.<\/p>\n
