She was a Sign Language Interpreter for the Fort Worth metroplex community for many years, working also with the Tarrant County College (then Tarrant County Jr. College) NE campus disability services SCOOP office director and interpreting for Deaf students attending TCC campuses. She then was a primary consultant for TCC in the establishment of their Sign Language and Interpreter Training Program initially at TCC’s NW campus. She was a primary force in founding the area’s first interpreter organization of Trinity Valley Interpreters for the Deaf (TVID). She was a co-founder and President of DEAF Inc., providing services to the Deaf senior citizens, Deaf with disabilities and Deaf-Blind citizens, originally housed in downtown Westchester Plaza Assisted Living, then moved to Heritage Square Assisted Living and the organization name from then on being known as Heritage Square.

She was the primary of two co-founders and President of Hired Hands Inc. providing interpreting services in the Fort Worth area. Her greatest focus was on the Deaf senior citizens, Deaf with disabilities and Deaf-Blind communities in providing services at both Westchester Plaza, then Heritage Square. She was a strong supporter in the establishment of New Life Deaf Fellowship Church and a member and church council member. With us and for us, our Deaf and interpreting communities, she made a beautiful difference for us and our community. She wasn’t just an interpreter and an advocate . . . she was and is a true friend with a Deaf heart. She was and is beloved by so many in our Deaf and interpreting communities and will be deeply missed. Our deeply heartfelt gratitude to you, LaTonne dear friend, for all that you have done with and for us. We will carry on your works. We will carry on your and legacy.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of her lake home with family, friends, and pets.
