Sweet Honey In The Rock\u00ae SHE ROCKS! <\/p>\n

Friday October 3, 2008 – 7:30 p.m. <\/p>\n

The Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm Street, Downtown Dallas <\/p>\n

Combining soul-stirring acappella harmonies with American Sign
\nLanguage interpretation, Sweet Honey in the Rock has been entertaining
\nand uplifting audiences around the globe for more than 30 years. The
\nGrammy award-winning group brings their special blend of spirituals,
\nhymns, gospel, jazz and blues to The Majestic Theatre in Downtown
\nDallas on Friday, October 3rd at 7:30 p.m. <\/p>\n

Firmly rooted in the sacred music of the black church, and committed
\nto creating music out of the rich textures of African-American legacy
\nand traditions, Sweet Honey in the Rock possesses a stunning vocal
\nprowess that captures the complex sounds of the blues, spirituals,
\ntraditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, hip-hop,
\nancient lullabies and jazz improvisation. <\/p>\n

Founded by Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon at the D.C. Black Repertory
\nTheater, Sweet Honey in the Rock has been a vital and innovative
\npresence in the music culture of Washington D.C., as well as in
\ncommunities around the world. Their biblically-inspired name comes
\nfrom Psalm 81:16, which promises that a people will be fed by honey
\nout of the rock. <\/p>\n

In addition to their stunning a cappella vocals, the group includes

\nTaylor Robinson Lectureship at Perkins School of Theology, Southern
