She was born in New Waverly, Texas on October<br \/>\n4, 1932. She attended Texas School for the Deaf. She was very much<br \/>\ninvolved in the Catholic Deaf community in the Dallas\/Fort Worth area<br \/>\nduring the year of 1965 through 1975. She was a secretary of Mother<br \/>\nMary Society of Deaf Chapter 51, affiliated with the International<br \/>\nCatholic Deaf Asociation (ICDA). She became a born-again Christian on<br \/>\nDecember 23, 1976. Dorothy Mae was a former employee of Liberty Mutual<br \/>\nInsurance Company of Dallas. She divorced Otho Penix, a former TSD<br \/>\nstudent (now deceased). She is survived by her son, Johnny Penix,<br \/>\nmarried to Delene Penix; a daughter, Jenny Dahlen, married to Eric<br \/>\nDahlen. Dorothy Mae had 4 grandchildren. <\/p>\n<p>On September 16, Dorothy Mae&#8217;s body was brought to Cathedral Praise<br \/>\nChurch in Mesquite, Texas for a funeral service.
