FIRST DEAF AUTHORS BOOK FESTIVAL COMING TO TEXAS<\/strong><\/p>\n

May 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 25 contemporary authors from across the country who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and BIPOC, will be in Austin for the first Deaf Authors Book Festival, May 6-7, 2022, at the Texas School for the Deaf.<\/p>\n

The two-day event includes book signings, workshops, and panel discussions, and is free to the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event will provide young writers the opportunity to interact and learn from renowned Deaf authors\u2019 and their writing techniques,\u201d says Dr. Steve Baldwin, co-chair of the festival.<\/p>\n

TSD Superintendent, Claire Bugen, says, \u201cwe are very excited to partner with the national Deaf community and look forward to this first ever Deaf Author\u2019s Book Festival to bridge our communities, and celebrate the many accomplished authors who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind and BIPOC.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Texas School for the Deaf is the oldest continuously operating public school in Texas.
