Alan Hurwitz- \u201cLet\u2019s Go in: My Journey to a University Presidency\u201d (2020) Roslyn \u201cRoz\u201d Rosen- \u201cDeaf Culture Fairy Tales\u201d (2017)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF PRESS RELEASE<\/p>\n<p>Contact: Gabriel Cardenas<br \/>\nPhone: 512-462-5372<br \/>\nEmail: gabriel.cardenas@tsd.state.tx.us<\/p>\n<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/p>\n<p><strong>HUMANITIES TEXAS PARTNERS WITH DEAF TELEVISION FOUNDATION (DTF) FOR UPCOMING DEAF AUTHORS BOOK FESTIVAL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>May 2022<\/p>\n<p>Austin, Texas \u2013 Humanities Texas announced the organization will partner with Deaf Television Foundation for the upcoming Deaf Authors Book Festival, May 6-7, 2022, at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD).<\/p>\n<p>Deaf Television Foundation president and co-host of the Festival, Dr. Steve Baldwin says, \u201cThis is exciting news. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>With the support of Humanities Texas, known for its advocacy of history, culture, and education, this event will indeed have a positive impact toward building awareness of deaf writers, deaf culture, and deaf history in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen specially selected authors from Hawaii, Washington, D.C., Arizona, Minnesota, Florida, California, and Texas all met the following criteria to participate in this event: published a book after 2015, in genres related to deaf culture, history, literature, or the arts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis major literary event is long overdue in the history of the American deaf community, adds Baldwin.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to TSD, our sponsors, volunteers, donors and grantors, those attending will have a rare opportunity to meet the authors, purchase the featured books and have them signed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TSD Superintendent, Claire Bugen, says, \u201cwe look forward to hosting this event which highlights accomplished authors who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and BIPOC.<\/p>\n<p>We are excited for TSD students to learn from the rich knowledge these authors bring as well as the variety of writing techniques.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two-day event includes panel discussions and a special program for aspiring high school and post-secondary students. The event is free to the public. No registration required.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule, including titles and authors, is due to be announced in January 2022.<\/p>\n<p>##<\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE DEAF AUTHORS BOOK FESTIVAL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Deaf Authors Book Festival brings together contemporary authors who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and BIPOC from across the United States for the first event in Austin, Texas.
