TAD to appear at TSD Homecoming <\/p>\n
The homecoming festival and football game at Texas School for the
\nDeaf is one of the biggest events in the Deaf Community. Last year
\nthere were over 2,000 visitors and 44 booths at TSD. This year the
\nevent will take place on October 4, Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00
\nPM. Game time against Maryland School for the Deaf starts at 5:30 PM. <\/p>\n
TAD will have three booths to greet the crowds in the TSD mall, which
\nstarts at the Elizabeth Street entrance and ends at the Heritage
\nCenter. First booth is our membership drive where old and new members
\ncan visit us and check their membership status. Some of you will need
\nto renew before December, so drop by to verify and renew for either
\n$10 as a senior or $15 as a regular. We will be giving out free copies
\nof The Deaf Texan. Members in good standing will get the fall copy,
\nfresh off the computerized press. <\/p>\n
Second TAD booth is made up of members of the Miss Deaf Texas
\nAmbassadorship fundraising committee. MDTA director Terri Levine and
\nher team will sell fruit cups and share information about the 2009
\npageant in San Antonio. <\/p>\n
In the third booth, Karen Kirby and her conference planning committee
\nwill be ready to dispense information about the 45th TAD Biennial
\nConference at Holiday Inn\u2019s El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel from June
\n11 to 13. <\/p>\n
This year we have something else that is unique, new and very civic.
\nWith Tracey Michol and the local polling administers assisting, there
\nwill be a special table for the visitors who wish to register to vote
\nin the upcoming presidential election! A voting machine will be set up
\nso that the homecoming visitors can practice their skills with the
\nadvice of polling experts. TSD is providing certified interpreters for
\nthis special arrangement. <\/p>\n
Come to our booths to show your pride in Deaf culture and exercise
\nyour right to vote as good citizens. <\/p>\n
