And many<br \/>\nof them are coming out of teacher Barry Darrell\u2019s classroom. <\/p>\n<p>Darrell, who is deaf, teaches an American Sign Language course that<br \/>\nnot only trains students in the mechanics of \u201cspeaking\u201d with their<br \/>\nhands and facial expressions, but also explores the culture of the<br \/>\ndeaf world and how it relates to that of the hearing. <\/p>\n<p>Apparently, he is good at what he does. The students at Brazoswood<br \/>\ncertainly consider him an asset. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s pretty cool and he\u2019s pretty funny, too,\u201d freshman Derek<br \/>\nD\u2019Arcangeli told The Facts. \u201cOver the past two weeks I have<br \/>\nlearned quite a bit. He\u2019s a pretty good teacher.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Senior Kristen Gary, who is Darrell\u2019s assistant, echoes that<br \/>\nsentiment. \u201cHe\u2019s a very good teacher,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s funny<br \/>\nand energetic and the kids enjoy him.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Darrell imparts his valuable knowledge with the use of worksheets, a<br \/>\ndemonstration board and \u2014 most effectively \u2014 by getting his<br \/>\nstudents actively involved in the classroom where one is apt to see<br \/>\nhands waving, fingers flying and faces contorting into every<br \/>\nconceivable emotion at any given time of the day. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that my students will learn new things about the deaf<br \/>\nculture and the differences between American Sign Language and<br \/>\nEnglish,\u201d Darrell said. <\/p>\n<p>Brazoswood students are lucky to have someone on campus who can<br \/>\nintroduce them to that mysterious realm, and teach them a practical<br \/>\nskill at the same time. <\/p>\n<p>Source: http:\/\/thefacts.com\/story.lasso?ewcd=66e42ba618a6817f<br \/>\n (scroll down little)<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>BETTER IP RELAY &#8211; EVERYWHERE! i711.com makes all your relay calls better.<br \/>\nBetter web calls.
