ADARA 2009 Pre-Conference Agenda Announced <\/p>\n
Three concurrent sessions will make-up the ADARA 2009 Pre-Conference
\nin San Antonio on April 15, 2009 from 8:00am \u2013 5:00pm. <\/p>\n
For the Rehabilitation\/At-Risk\/Low Functioning Track, we are happy to
\nhave to John Evans from the State of Washington and Randi Turner from
\nthe State of Texas presenting: “Disability Rights and Advocacy
\nStrategies.” <\/p>\n
For the Independent Living\/Transition Track, “Technology Update:
\nDevices and Services,” a presentation from Rose Minette, Teri Wathen
\nand Esther Kelly. These three professionals have been instrumental in
\ncreating the Hearing Loss Resource Specialist program which thrives in
\nTexas. All levels of hearing loss are served through this statewide
\nprogram. <\/p>\n
For the Mental Health\/Substance Abuse Track, we are pleased to
\nannounce Stephen Hardy-Braz will present, “Understanding New
\nPsychological Assessments with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals:
\nMaking Sense of the SB-5, WPPSI-II, WISC-IV, WAIS-III, WNV, DAS-ii and
\nKABC-II.” <\/p>\n
ADARA 2009 Opening Gala Announced <\/p>\n
The ADARA 2009 Conference will open Wednesday night after conclusion
\nof the Pre-Conference. The 2-hour Wine\/Beer\/Cheese\/Salsa\/Chips
\nreception will be held outside in a covered\/protected pavilion
\nbeginning at 6:00pm. Off to each side in separate meeting rooms will
\nbe two concurrent events: Deaf Author Book Signing and ADARA 2009
\nPoster Session. Afterwards participants will be able to enjoy a night
\non the San Antonio RiverWalk which is literally just steps from the
\nConference Hotel, the Plaza San Antonio; a Marriott property. <\/p>\n
