Governor Abbott Appoints Jen\u00e9e Land To Governor\u2019s Committee On People With Disabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Jen\u00e9e Land to the Governor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Committee recommends changes in disability policies and programs, supports a network of local committees on people with disabilities, issues awards to promote greater awareness of disability issues, and promotes compliance with disability-related laws.<\/p>\n

Jen\u00e9e Land of Lubbock is chief executive officer and owner of 512 Terps, a Deaf- and woman-owned interpreting agency. As a Deaf professional and business owner, she brings both lived and professional experience in advancing communication access, accessibility, employment opportunities, and community engagement for Texans with disabilities. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Caprock Society of Interpreters for the Deaf and as an advisory committee member for interpreter education programs at Austin Community College and Texas Tech University. She also helps organize the South Plains Deaf Social, an inclusive community group that connects Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals across the South Plains. Jen\u00e9e received a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Studies with a minor in Psychology from Gallaudet University.<\/p>\n

GCPD welcomes Jen\u00e9e and looks forward to her contributions in advancing opportunities and improving the lives of Texans with disabilities.<\/p>\n
