TSID Interpreter Symposium<\/p>\n
January 2-3, 2009 – Austin, Texas <\/p>\n
The Symposium will allow participants a forum to share ideas,
\ninformation and concerns regarding the interpreting profession, and
\nwill allow for an opportunity to create a plan on how to move forward
\non these topics. <\/p>\n
January 2, 2009 – Friday, 7pm \u2013 9pm Presenters: Mark Seeger and
\nBilly Collins – This session will focus on how to use systems advocacy
\nto make policy and legislative change. Advocacy works to create change
\nin organizations, service systems, or laws and is used to change
\npolicies of agencies, organizations or departments. Where the effort
\nis directed will depend on the nature of the problem and which
\norganization has authority over the problem area. This workshop will
\naddress the stages of systems advocacy and provide participants with
\nthe tools to impact public policy and legislative change. <\/p>\n
January 3, 2009 – Saturday, 9 am \u2013 5 pm \u2013 This forum will
\nprovides an assembly where peers may share important information and
\nideas that participant would like TSID to address. Once ideas are
\ngathered the assembly will prioritize and break into focus groups and
\nconsider approaches to address these topics. <\/p>\n
