CULINARY ARTS STUDENTS CONTRIBUTE TO HOTEL\u2019S HOLIDAY DISPLAY<\/p>\n
STUDENT WORK TO BE SHOWCASED IN DOWNTOWN LOBBY<\/p>\n
WHAT: High school students from the Texas School for the Deaf\u2019s
\n(TSD) Culinary Arts program team with professionals at the Hilton to
\ndecorate gingerbread houses to be assembled and displayed in the
\nhotel\u2019s lobby throughout the holidays.<\/p>\n
WHEN: 10:00 am \u2013 12:00 pm<\/p>\n

WHY: Part of the Career and Technology Education Department at TSD,
\nthe Culinary Arts program is a classroom that operates as a business
\nand prepares students for careers in hotel and restaurant fields.
\nStudents cater many school events as well as fill outside orders upon
\nrequest. Classroom instruction includes recipe testing, business
\nmanagement, menu planning, and food health and safety. Training
\nopportunities working with guest chefs and food industry
\nprofessionals, like the Hilton staff, give students real-world,
\non-the-job training experience.<\/p>\n
With a strong belief in culture and community at TSD, students form a
\nunique identity based on their individual strengths and talents. At
