Due to current economic hardships and high unemployment<br \/>\nrates we have chosen to limit services to Austin and its surrounding<br \/>\nareas. Unemployment issues are affecting people across the country.<br \/>\nSordos is dedicated to breaking down barriers that prevent the Deaf<br \/>\nand Hard of Hearing from obtaining employment. We continue to build<br \/>\nnew relationships with Austin employers and are having much success in<br \/>\nplacing the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in competitive employment.<\/p>\n<p>Please welcome Chris Espinoza as our new Vocational Services Liaison.<br \/>\nChris is now responsible for coordinating services and managing our<br \/>\nvocational services department. Chris can be reached via email<br \/>\nchris.espinoza.sordos@gmail.com<\/p>\n<p>or via VP: 512-803-7000.<\/p>\n<p>Interpreting Services:<br \/>\nDue to high demand Sordos has expanded our interpreting services. We<br \/>\nare currently seeking highly qualified; certified Interpreters to work<br \/>\npart time in various educational, medical, legal and vocational<br \/>\nsettings. Interpreter interviews and paperwork will be completed every<br \/>\nFriday from 10am-3pm. If you have a complaint or concern regarding<br \/>\nyour rights for quality interpreting services please contact us. You<br \/>\ndeserve the right to be heard!<\/p>\n<p>Sordos would like to thank the Deaf Community for your continued<br \/>\nsupport and requests for our reputable interpreters. As interpreting<br \/>\nservices continues to grow we are able to fund various programs such<br \/>\nas our Job Search Groups and Advocacy Services. All<br \/>\ncourses are taught by experienced Deaf instructors. Classes will be<br \/>\nheld at our office every Tuesday evening from 6-8pm for a total of 6<br \/>\nweeks. Sign Language has many benefits for<br \/>\nyoung children, deaf or hearing. He has absolutely no<br \/>\nfurniture and is living in a small apartment in Austin. If you have<br \/>\nanything to donate please contact Sue Winkles<br \/>\nsue.winkles.sordos@gmail.com<br \/>\n. We also need volunteers to pick up and deliver furniture to the<br \/>\npersons residence.<\/p>\n<p>Sordos is creating a clothing closet for Deaf Consumers in our<br \/>\nvocational program and homeless Deaf Consumers served at Shoreline<br \/>\nChristian Centers East Campus. We are seeking donations for men&#8217;s and<br \/>\nwomen&#8217;s business casual and business professional clothing. We are<br \/>\nalso in need of khaki pants and polo shirts for Consumers placed in<br \/>\njobs which require a uniform.
