Gov. Perry Appoints Five to Governor\u2019s Committee on People with
\nDisabilities <\/p>\n
AUSTIN \u2013 Gov. Rick Perry has appointed five members to the
\nGovernor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities for terms to expire
\nFeb. 1, 2010. The committee works to ensure Texans with disabilities
\nmay live their lives with integrity, independence and productivity.<\/p>\n
Rodolfo \u201cRudy\u201d Becerra Jr. of Nacogdoches is a library student
\nassistant and disability consultant to the director of disabilities at
\nStephen F. Austin State University (SFASU). He is a charter member and
\npresident of the SFASU chapter of the Golden Key Honor Society. He is
\nalso a volunteer with the Nacogdoches Wagon Wheel Program. Becerra
\nreplaces Nancy Shugart of Austin.<\/p>\n
Aaron W. Bangor of Austin is principal member of the AT&T Labs Inc.
\ntechnical staff. He is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics
\nSociety. He is also board certified in professional ergonomics as a
\nCertified Human Factors Professional. Bangor received bachelor\u2019s
\ndegrees, a master\u2019s degree and doctoral degree in human factors
\nengineering from Virginia Tech University. He is being reappointed. <\/p>\n
Maureen F. McClain of Pharr is associate director of disability
\nservices at the University of Texas-Pan American. She is a member of
\nthe Association of Higher Education and Disabilities, and was
\nappointed to the Academic Advisement Council. She is a past member of
\nthe Rio Grande Valley Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. McClain
\nreceived a bachelor\u2019s degree and master\u2019s degree in rehabilitative
\ncounseling from The University of Texas Pan American. She replaces
\nTommie Wells of Fort Worth.<\/p>\n
Judy C. Scott of Dallas is director of the American Foundation for
\nthe Blind Center on Vision Loss. She is a member of the Reading and
\nRadio Resource for the Blind Advisory Committee, and past chair of the
\nVision Services Consortium, Texas State Independent Living Council,
\nand Texas Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind
\nand Visually Impaired. She is also a past member of the Texas
\nDepartment of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services Division for Blind
\nServices, Texas Rehabilitation Commission Rehabilitation Advisory
\nCouncils, and access committees for the American Airlines Arena and
\nthe International Terminal at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
\nScott received bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees from Texas A&M
\nUniversity-Commerce. She is being reappointed and will continue as
\nchair of the committee.<\/p>\n
Kathy Strong of Garrison is executive director of the Nacogdoches
\nTreatment Center. She is an ex-officio member of the Nacogdoches
\nMayor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities, a member of the State
\nof Texas Guardianship Certification Board, and president of the
\nNacogdoches Handicapped Housing Board of Directors. She is also a
\nmember of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee
\nand the Leadership Nacogdoches Steering Committee. Strong received a
\nbachelor\u2019s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She is
\nbeing reappointed.<\/p>\n
