Perry Appoints Five to Governor\u2019s Committee on People with<br \/>\nDisabilities <\/p>\n<p>AUSTIN \u2013 Gov. Rick Perry has appointed five members to the<br \/>\nGovernor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities for terms to expire<br \/>\nFeb. 1, 2010. The committee works to ensure Texans with disabilities<br \/>\nmay live their lives with integrity, independence and productivity.<\/p>\n<p>Rodolfo \u201cRudy\u201d Becerra Jr. of Nacogdoches is a library student<br \/>\nassistant and disability consultant to the director of disabilities at<br \/>\nStephen F. Austin State University (SFASU). He is a charter member and<br \/>\npresident of the SFASU chapter of the Golden Key Honor Society. He is<br \/>\nalso a volunteer with the Nacogdoches Wagon Wheel Program. Becerra<br \/>\nreplaces Nancy Shugart of Austin.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron W. Bangor of Austin is principal member of the AT&amp;T Labs Inc.<br \/>\ntechnical staff. He is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics<br \/>\nSociety. He is also board certified in professional ergonomics as a<br \/>\nCertified Human Factors Professional. Bangor received bachelor\u2019s<br \/>\ndegrees, a master\u2019s degree and doctoral degree in human factors<br \/>\nengineering from Virginia Tech University. He is being reappointed. <\/p>\n<p>Maureen F. McClain of Pharr is associate director of disability<br \/>\nservices at the University of Texas-Pan American. She is a member of<br \/>\nthe Association of Higher Education and Disabilities, and was<br \/>\nappointed to the Academic Advisement Council. She is a past member of<br \/>\nthe Rio Grande Valley Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. McClain<br \/>\nreceived a bachelor\u2019s degree and master\u2019s degree in rehabilitative<br \/>\ncounseling from The University of Texas Pan American. She replaces<br \/>\nTommie Wells of Fort Worth.<\/p>\n<p>Judy C. Scott of Dallas is director of the American Foundation for<br \/>\nthe Blind Center on Vision Loss. She is a member of the Reading and<br \/>\nRadio Resource for the Blind Advisory Committee, and past chair of the<br \/>\nVision Services Consortium, Texas State Independent Living Council,<br \/>\nand Texas Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind<br \/>\nand Visually Impaired. She is also a past member of the Texas<br \/>\nDepartment of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services Division for Blind<br \/>\nServices, Texas Rehabilitation Commission Rehabilitation Advisory<br \/>\nCouncils, and access committees for the American Airlines Arena and<br \/>\nthe International Terminal at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.<br \/>\nScott received bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees from Texas A&amp;M<br \/>\nUniversity-Commerce. She is being reappointed and will continue as<br \/>\nchair of the committee.<\/p>\n<p>Kathy Strong of Garrison is executive director of the Nacogdoches<br \/>\nTreatment Center. She is an ex-officio member of the Nacogdoches<br \/>\nMayor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities, a member of the State<br \/>\nof Texas Guardianship Certification Board, and president of the<br \/>\nNacogdoches Handicapped Housing Board of Directors. She is also a<br \/>\nmember of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee<br \/>\nand the Leadership Nacogdoches Steering Committee. Strong received a<br \/>\nbachelor\u2019s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.
